Know How to Build a Business: Bukisa and Hubpages, and Others: Making More Money Online After the Google Panda Update
61Build a Business: Make Money
There are many ways to build your online business and make money online. In fact there are a few ways that you can do this by writing and publishing online articles. The heart of some of the online writing sites is the use of Google AdSense. rather it is using AdSense to get paid faster.
Take for example two online writing sites:Bukisa and Hubpages. They are on the surface very different, one is more like building a mini website and one is more based upon a quantity of articles. I write on both hubpages and Bukisa, so I believe I can make these comparisons with some certainty. Now both use the AdSense Affiliate Program, but up until January 2011 Bukisa was a paid-per-impression site. This is not the case anymore as they changed their business model to that which is similar to hubpages.
Both will make money online for you, but one requires more work, and one needs to be done more often. Still in terms of building an online business with Google, and the Google AdSense Program, using both is a wise choice. This can be in a way a hubpages vs bukisa, but if you want to build your bsuiness, you will have to think of it as a hubpages and bukisa.
So What About Bukisa?
Bukisa is a writing site very much like hubpages. The key difference is that there you are writing something a lot shorter. They do have two choices for you to make money, one you can make money with Google AdSense or if you can not get an application accepted, then through Chickita.
There you will write 250 words articles (at minimum) and you will then do the exact same idea as you would with hubpages, promote your work. The big difference there is that it seems a lot easier to make money, as people are more accustomed to going and commenting.
The big difference is that there are no referral links to any other sites other then to Bukisa. So, that being said they do have a small editorial review of your work. While they do check for small mistakes such as all caps, the main thing they are looking at are you links. (They have not caught some of my err more interesting spelling mistakes... sigh!)
The point is that it is a decent writing site in terms of getting traffic to a hub, or to any other writing site. If you can write a long hub, you can write several articles, or how to articles in the time it takes to write a hub here.

Another Writing Site? Money Time: Are You Nuts?
Yes I know it's a time thing, we want to make money online with our business, and we'd like to do so with one website and one blog, but often it is a great way to not build your online business. It is the eggs in one basket thing.
See, the biggest thing about bukisa is that it gets some traffic and it also works similar to hubpages, but it is much easier to learn off of. Most people there are writers at smaller online writing sites, but they are learning the fine art of promoting their work there.
It also is a good way of making a bit more money online over time. I do make money with AdSense on Bukisa, but it has also improved my AdSense earnings on hubpages. Since you are limited to 15 tags, you have to really think about keyword choices there.
If you want to make money and want to increase traffic to your hubs and other wbesites or blogs, you have to think beyond social networking sites and other places, and smaller writing sites, which may mean 10 more minutes of your time, is a great way to get paid faster from the Google AdSense Program.
Think of it as a business choice, a change and see if it works for you.
What About Hubpages?
There is not much to be said about hubpages, if you are a writer here you can pretty much write anywhere. It is best to have a bit of knowledge on how to increase traffic and how to build a hub which makes you money, but the point is that hubpages is a writing site, much like any other site.
If you are wondering but SEO and these sorts of things, hubpages has "do-follow" (Provided your personal hub score is 75 and each of your hubs is above 40) and Bukisa is "no-follow." If you need to increase traffic, getting good links should be more important than getting links from do-follow and no-follow. It is about traffic and making money. In this case, using bukisa to increase traffic to your hubs is good business sense.
Again each of your hub is a mini wesbite and needs some site promotion, and this means essentially adding links to article directories, and blogs and other websites, and social networking sites, and other online writing sites. The more you do this, the more traffic you will get, and more money you will make.
Okay, But What About the Google AdSense Program
Yes, if you have Google AdSense, and have been accepted by the program then yes, you will need to think about Bukisa. The reason is that it is fast, and for the most part has been around for a while. In other words, like hubpages, you can make money with the Google AdSense Program there. As a revenue sharing site, (This is new since January 2011-- it used to be paid by impressions) this is a good compliment to hubpages.
What about the money?
Write enough on Bukisa, like an article or two a day, you will make money(I would say a few pennies...but you will make money) and then linking it to a hub will increase traffic to your sites. The thing is that I feel comfortable using my Google AdSense code on this site more than on others, but then I have been writing there for a while, and was paid from them when they used the bukisa index. (Now, do to false impressions they use the revenue sharing method, between AdSense and Chickita.)
Hmm... I think that Money
Which One Would You Try to Increase Money?
See results without votingSo... Which One?
This is a business choice, and you will need to understand that to write an article a day there is a time commitment, and something that will increase your AdSense earnings and get you paid sooner than using only one website.
Part of what makes Bukisa a good site to simply add some links is that it works on the same revenue sharing ideas as hubpages. It is easier to get traffic and views since most people who wrote on Bukisa tended to be more active in looking at others work. It has a ranking system similar, expect that it uses stars to increase traffic.
Since the most recent panda update I have noticed that my links from Bukisa have helped my Google AdSense. The key was that i was actively link building my sites to Bukisa and that made a huge difference with my hubs.
I would suggest that even thought links from Bukisa are nofollow they are still of value, and since there is a bit of editorial review on Bukisa, there is a bit better quality, meaning less chance of spam there.
To your success.

Short and sweet - sounds good to me. I'll have to check it out.
Great info & I love the comments with your responses. One question, how do you link from Bukisa back to Hubpages when you can't put links in your article?
What do you think is more important writing on a website like hubpages or writing on smaller sites with links to say one or two of these hubs?
hey great article,
I mean seriously on hubpages i am able to find some awesome articles.
great keep up the good work.
Going to give Bukisa a try, not a happy camper with Squidoo, life's to short and I'm running out of brain cells. I need a program, like Hubpages, that is user friendly. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and knowledge. Voted up, marked useful and bookmarked in the "Rebecca E." file. Peace to you Rebecca E.
Actually, I knew about bukisa a long time ago. But I haven't registered. Thanks for share with us. I'll think about this and it's good for us to get money online. Another option for us. Keep it up and I am glad to follow your hub. Your hub always inspired us. Good work, Rebecca. Thumbs up for you.

Rebecca, had not heard of Bukisa. I like the idea of writing something short and sweet. Will check it out! You are truly our Hubpages money making expert in residence. Thank you for sharing.
Voted up!
Thanks Rebecca for sharing you knowledge on the many tips of making money online
Voted up and useful...more ways to write and be read. Thanks!
Rebecca, you have convinced me to look into Bukisa. It sounds like it is right up my alley. Thanks for the information.
Thank you, Rebecca, and I, not very often, write on Busika and enjoy it.
Thanks for the info on Bukisa I will go over there and have a look. I could do with another way of getting more traffic to my hubs.
As for Helium. I used to write there before I found HubPages years ago.
Yes you do keep copyright of your articles but that is just about all. Once an article is published the writer is not allowed to change it in any way. Or delete it either. It put me off writing online for a few years because I thought all online writing sites were the same.
Thank God I came across such a briliiant site as HubPages.
If you have to choose between one which would you choose? If not how do you write enough to make money?
Words to the wise appreciated, Rebecca...Bob
Thanks for the info on Bukisa, becca. Do you find Ezines useful, too. Just wonderin'. :)
Writing for Bukisa and including links to hubs sounds like a great idea. Yet, I think I will wait until I reach at least a hundred hubs (before starting to write on other sites). Also, what you mentioned above, I am not always comfortable about using my Google Adsense code on sites other than Hubpages. Great hub BTW!
GREAT Hub Rebecca!
Thank you so much for sharing!
I made a decision early on to use HubPages only because at the time it was the ONLY site to allow it's writers/hubbers to maintain copyright control! Has that changed? Do all sites allow that now?
Also, I do not see Helium on your list? Do you write for Helium? I do not but have some wonderful friends who do and love it!
Thank you again for such a wonderful and informative Hub!
Blessings always, EarthAngel!
Thanks for such and interesting article I enjoyed it. You gave some great points here.
Have a great day.
Sweet wishes Rhonda
Thanks for the update on Bukisa. what is the AS rev share percentage there? honestly, I'd prefer $ than cents, especially with inflation going out of control.
Rebecca. I have read you various articles on this subject (making bread on HP, etc.) I have a question which may be silly, but I am a better writer than an internet businessman. Can you just publish the same article on several writing sites? If not, why not, etc...Cheers, bob
thank you for the points. I cam currently on 3 sites and always have a hard time determining which site to use for each artcile. Any suggestions?
Thanks Rebecca. you have clarified something important for me here. I thought links on Hubpages were only do-follow on HUBS over 75! If you only need an overall hubscore of over 75 (and each hub over 40) all my hubs are do-follow. I was thinking my few bottom ones were no-follow and trying to get them up (and factoring that in when I looked at overall SEO strategy) Man, this business is complicated!
Haven't tried Buksia yet but will take a look at it. I figure anything that gives you a revenue share while allowing you to create links has to be worth looking into as most of the article directories don't actually have any kind of income stream available. They are just pure link creating opportunities.
Interesting take on Bukisa.
I write for both Hubpages and Bukisa too. I thinks I prefer Hubpages because the community is more alive than at Bukisa..Thanks for this informative hub..
Great information and motivation to keep on top of my goal to write one page every day. It doesn't matter what site it's on.
Up and Useful hub on bukisa and how to use it. My sister is one bukisa and really likes it. I have a blog and hub and now I am thinking I'm ready to try something like Bukisa. Thanks
I used to write quite a bit for Ehow though haven't since Demand took over. Hope to get back to it again. Great Hub, as usual.
Thanks for this information. I've really been wondering about these things.

Duchess-- yes Bukisa seems to work wonders for a bit o' traffic here, but mind you don't say anything of teh sort like "click here" to go and read my hub on hubpages, since they do a bit ofmoderating there, it is not considered "proper." The same goes for wikinut, so be prepared with that one as well.
