Hubpages can be a Curious Place to Make Money Online, You Need Quality Hubs To Do This
69Writing About Money-- Or Writing For Money?
Even in the writing answers section now! you find question like these from writing to hubpages. Wow, but publishing on hubpages isn't enough there are so many questions out there to answer. This one asked about the making of money on writing on hubpages. If I've said it once I've said it a million times, writing a lot on hub pages is the key. There are other things that are a part of this equation, and I'll go through them, but it is the time and energy that the writing produces that gives you the small change.
So what to do what to do?
Write: Get that first article down and get it written and most importantly publish it on hub pages, I have the time now to publish a hub about everyday, but to begin with write one really good hub and make sure it follows the standard guides, meaning not to long and not too short. Get some original content, I did that with one of my hubs, where I asked what if? It's my steady and popular one, and because it's Dracula... well, I enjoyed writing it.
Writing what you know helps in the beginning, since this will establish some credibility, I didn't get into the answers section until I had more than 50 fans, for me I knew that these people would look at my hubs, so I had some credibility in my writing. Also by writing on a regular basis on hub pages you will improve your writing.

More than 100 hubs?:This is a good sign, as some hubs won't produce and others will. Some get an initial spike of visitors and then they don't do anything, except get an occasional hit and that's about it. Others keep producing long after it's written. SO, this minimizes the chances that a hub not producing traffic, will be the only source of income. If you can network your websites, such as linking one in a newer hub, people do click on links more than they click on AdSense, but this does get traffic. So Network using Stumble, Digg, and your own websites to promote hubs and anything else you write. It;s a goiod way to build an audience, from outside of hub pages.
Hub Scores:This is really important, as the lower your hub scores the bigger the signal that you should take some time to either get fans or that your hubs aren't great or up to snuff. I know some hub writer take these number way to seriously and other couldn't figure out why there is a) no traffic and b) no clicks. If for example, you have a hub that is a score of 50 and a hub with a score of 75, and one has a steady stream of people going to read it, then ask why teh50 hub is scored that way. Also if your hub score is about 60 or below and you've been here a while ask yourself how this effects your hubs, it does by the way. If you look at featured hubs, most if not all of them are in the high 90s scores, and the person writing them is respected on hub pages. If you take sometime to build an audience your hub scores will go up accordingly, but be careful, as "fanning" to many people without getting "fanned" back can lower your score.
Comments and Interaction: I try to interact as best I can but these days I write, and I write some more. Even then I try to comment on comments made to my hubs, and yes I do read some of the writing hubs others write. I try to comment on as many hubs as I can, but still people should at this point know I interact. If your comments are thoughtful and insightful this will of course build your audience as well. Oh and if you get a hub request answer it as best you can, I get them a lot, and I try to answer them as well.
Amazon, AdSense, and eBay:All of these three will get you money at some point, but I find that AdSense is a bit more steady after a while. With the other two if your hub isn't something that peopleneed they won't click, at least not on amazon or on eBay, but when they do, well it's good.
So yes there are factors in writing a hub and making money online, especially on hub pages, and it does take time and patience but it is something you need to do, there are others things, but I've mentioned them in other hubs, so you can at least say you're getting something new. Yes, income and money from hub pages does take time, but in teh end it's worth it.

Very interesting points you have made here. We can make money on HubPages but like you say we have to put in the time and work
Rebecca is the consultant of all new Hub-makers. A source of great help and caring
Very interesting. I have 0 fans so it's time for me to get commenting.
thanks again Rebecca, I always enjoy your work. It makes HubPages worth the effort...
Rebecca E. can you tell me which book you'd recommend more than others?
rebecca-- thanks for suggesting the book problogger it really helped me with my blog
Thank you for this hub as it certainly has helped to answer some of my questions. Your doing a great job!
Rebecca yet another great hub, I am only now realising I can make money on hubpages, just wish I hadnt been such a fool when I first joined.
You write a great hub girl, keep them coming !
Great hub, thanks!
Rebecca, as usually , great hub, a lot of info. Thanks.
Great hub! I agree the most important thing to make money on hubpages seems to be publishing hubs. I am signing up to be a fan of yours. i look forward to reading more of your hubs.
I will add that, in my opinion, hubscores and author scores are unimportant. If your hub finds it's audience, the score will go up. Quality writing is the objective.
Traffic on hubpages is about gaining search engine traffic, if you want to make money. The hubpages traffic really won't earn any money.
I have been on hubpages for only two months. I have published 50 hubs. In Dec. I earned just short of $400.00 from amazon. I earned only $50.00 from adsense. I think amazon is the best way to earn money.
After only two months I have already had over 10,000 hits. I have had much luck so far.
Also, I avoid the forums. I believe if you want to earn money, they are a waste of time. It's probably why I have few fans.
Thanks again for the hub. Very good points!
:) Thanks.
Excellent refresher. I agree that AdSense will be the profit generator if there will be one.
I have to ask you a question, which I think should be quite interesting for other newbies like me: when I joined hubpages I've fanned and followed a lot of hubbers, many good stuffs and a lot to learn. This probably has affected my hubscore since many top hubbers do not follow back, or fan back. If I quit following those who do not reply can it improve positively my score? And, the score of the fanned one does it affect mine, as there are a lot of good hubbers who have not yet a score above 75?
I've found top hubbers like you and some others who fan back, while others are probably too occupied for it, but I want to increase the traffic only of those who deserve it, like you. :)
Very good hub Rebecca, as usual. You always put things so easy to understand. And thanks for those hints on hubscore. I hate when it goes down. :)
Most of my hubvisitors are all from Hubpages, I still haven't really cracked the Google traffic and I have over 100 hubs...I think maybe I don't write about what Google people want to read.
Well said again Rebecca E. Holidays, work, making friends is not the reason I joined. I meet some awfully nice people and get side tracked. Thanks for the reminder. I need to write more.
In the poll I naturally picked improving my writing as being the most important thing, because from my perspective the other things—building an audience, improving hub scores etc.—would seem to me to be a logical result of good writing on its own. It would at least make the footwork of directing a few people in through the back door a little more productive, in that when they finally arrive at the writing they feel compelled enough by it to come back.
Thanks for this hub,Rebecca.
Can you tell what the main advantage is of having a lot of hubs?.I would guess that one reason people do that is to create some kind of income. And i guess that if you are trying to promote one or 2 main hubs, main interests, many hubs arent needed. If that is true,i now need to research the best way to have people see them.Leaving useful/interesting comments.
on hubs may be one of the best ways,as you mentioned
Happy new year.
Gavin
I'm fairly new here. I tried signing up for an adsence account. It took me as far as the creating a log in, and never brought up the application. I can't get the help page to come up either. I would like to submit more hubs, but, I am not going to do it if there is zero chance of me getting income from it. Any suggestions?
Your hub here made me stop and think about how much time I spend doing "what" on HubPages. The interaction aspect is clearly very important, but unless someone as frank and helpful as yourself bangs one over the head with this fact, it's easy to get lost in other hub details. Hubbing can be an exhausting full time job! I honestly wonder what some of these hubbers whose names are everywhere on the site spouting off on just about everything----well, what the heck do they do for a living? And do they, in fact, "have a life?" Very challenging. And the Hub learning curve is steep and winding. I've only been hammering away at hubs for about a month and only have 24 hubs published, gees louyise! I feel like I've been at this for most of my life! Yes, but it is addicting, and one can meet the nicest people (such as your own sweet self).
Thanks Rebecca E.
Invaluable hub once again.
Rebecca E, Wonderful informative Hub! This has been quite helpful! Thank you for sharing, Blessings!
RebeccaE- I enjoyed reading this article. My own thought is that attention to an article by other Hubbers is not as important as might be the attention paid to it by those who meet up with it from links via search engines... Google and the rest of them. What are your thoughts on that? Gus
Helpful hub.. I like the way you set out the information in hubs like this one the facts are there and they are easy to follow. If I bookmark it with the bold type I can return straight to the bit I want to re-read. Thank you.
Some insightful points, but with the little time I have, I can barely read and comment not to mention writing a hub. Thanks dear.
Shamel.
Rebecca E, You explained how hubscore works, better than anyone else I've seen. I'm going to bookmark this hub to read it again and again. I haven't spent as much time learning about how hubpages works as I should, but with hubs like yours I can cut corners. Thank you so much. Oh, and by the way I like what you say about fanning, I never knew it was called that. I personally don't like to fan that way because I like to read my fan club hubs, and I like to know who I'm fanning before I fan them. Thank you so much for your very indepth explanation.
A very good introduction to me, I am starting soon now to jump on this wagon.
Thanks for the great advice. It's difficult in the beginning to get a balance between writing, reading and being active in the forums and all of this influences your score which of course does influence your fan base. Thanks for bringing it into perspective.
Rebecca, this is really food for thought. Thanks. I see I'm not interacting enough yet. To be honest it is because I'm essentially a loner, has been my whole life. But I suppose if I want to make this work I'll have to work harder at it. I tend to love reading the hubs but I do not comment enough! Maybe that is why I do not get my Hub scores up.
Thank you Rebecca E,you always have great hubs with great advice. I thank you for sharing. Blessings to you. creativeone59
Awesome, Rebecca, thanks again for a wonderfully informative hub!
Thank you: I've heard this advice many times on here, but it's good to be reminded!
great article as always Rebecca and I agree with Scott you are one of my mentors :) love to you
Rebecca, you are quickly becoming an authority on Hubpages, once again after spending times in the forums I have to wonder what some people are here to do. I notice many of the loudest debaters and bashers have been members now for months and only written a few hubs. Others having only been members for days and authored no hubs seems to fell license to remark on anything. While this site is by no means an elitist network I still have to ask "Why are you here?" THis is a writing site so start writing something hubbers please.
