Writing 101: When Writing for a Living the Two Needed Things are enjoyment and Money
60Money and Writing
Yes, I know, the "moeny" is misspelled-- it is money and it is about making money writing and publishing your work. This is all about the idea of writing for a living and what you need to have, and the two things are: enjoyment and money with your published manuscripts. It does not matter how you publish-- be it self-publishing or traditional publishing, what does matter is enjoying and making money with your writing.
Is it possible to enjoy writing and make some money? For most writers the best answer is YES! of course we can, but for some, money and writing aren't so fixed. There is a fine line between writing for enjoyment and writing for money. But both can be done, at the same time. Still for some "moe- for-me" is needed, but that comes later. It is a business but it is not something just for you.
It's all a balance, fun family friends, other people in your life and wriiting. So how do people make a bit of money on the side? Hubs and Blogs of course. An online business.
Since this is a hub, and I blog I'll use both as examples, Just three main points on content and enjoyment:
Small Change?
What More Important?
See results without votingWriting Contetn is Important So is Publishing Something You Enjoy
Content:
1) Write as much as you can as often as you can. Quality is important and that is what makes readers come back again and again and again. Writing is one way to make a reader return but a short article will not help you in teh long run, as with any mini-website, this is not a blog where you can come back and post more.
2) Make it interesting, not just for your readers but for yourself. If you can't write in it everyday or even at best every other day, why are you writing or joining something at all? Online writing is a job, and a commitment, and that is the only way you will make money with your writing.
3) It's OKAY if it's not great to begin with, we all start somewhere. Your content and writing will improve the more you work at it. Enjoy what you do and learn about what you write about.
Enjoyment:
1) Write what you know, that's the fun part. Then branch out and write about topics you might not know as much about and will be required to do some research.
2) IF you enjoy what you're writing it will show. it will also show if you simply write to make tons of money online. This is about helping people do what you are doing with your writing-- you need to enjoy being a part communicator and teacher with your online writing.
3) Network With people, but be honest and use your mind. In other words comment on other's blogs, comment on yours comment on the good and the bad, and always be respectful.
Of course this won't help you get a lot of money but it will help. Your reputation will come with you, and online, people do write about bad experiences more so than good. I am the first to say if the site isn't well run or not updated a lot with out a good reason, I go the other way. I might not mention it in blogs or on hubs. This isn't good for people-- if they enjoy your writing, you need to be open with them, or at least show them that you are improving things: such as taking a writing course to improve your writing, or publish another book which is taking your time.
Money will come, this I can assure you of. Remember if you enjoy something, be it writing, or blogging or whatever, your enjoyment will show. I love writing, and as you can see I try to keep everything updated as best I can. Of course I am realistic.
It does take time, but I go with the value of over time something good will happen. it's fun to make money but, it can also make your writing stale. don't write with the intent to get "moe-for-me" but to make it "moe-fun-ny"
There more fun you have the more it shows, the more money. Just write a blog post everyday or a hub frequently, and work on books and before you know it, It's fun and enjoyable, and as a bonus money does come to you.
To Your success

Great advice!
As you can see I'm a new hubber. I'm levelheaded! I don't expect to make money from this, but it gives me an chance to write. Its a place where I can enhance my writing skills and learn from others.
I believe if you stick to something, have a positive approach, and being passionate in what you do, the end will have a good outcome.
Looking forward to your next hub!
Spot on when you say "over time something good will happen". Too many people expect something good to happen far too quickly. Give it time, find the fun, find your passion and in the end that something good will come and you will have had a good time along the way.
