Money 101: Follow the Call of Fast Money on Hubpages? Well To Begin, Making Money Is...
71Money and Hubpages
With hubpages if you want to make money, you need to understand that you follow the call of money. You'll need to work with the idea that there is google AdSense and google AdWords and that both work in harmony with each other. How? with good content and keywords. The better the keyword and the better the content the more chance you'll make money. It's a bit of a money business with a few different things that need to be explained.
So, a bit of money making 101:
Google AdSense: You'll notice on hubs that there is boxes in your hubs with advertisements. These are Google AdSense. There is no trick to these advertisements, a person who reads your hubs clicks on them and you get anywhere from 0.01 to some have said, $20.00. So you're probably wondering how would I know this stat on money?
Simple.
In your stats on your hubs there is a little tab at the end of the list, called hubmetrics, and from there you can get a rough outline of how much money you can make. These are the dollar signs, the range from one to five, so if you only have one $ then this means your keywords aren't going to generate a lot of money. If you have $$$$$ symbols, then your advertisements, will be worth more, provided the next thing happens.
To follow the call of money and to make money with google AdSense, you need to learn that keywords and content and SEO are all important. Google uses your keywords (or tags as hubpages calls them) to help people find your hub or blog or website.
Making Money on Hubpages: This one is a bit more complex, I think people will read the FAQs and think they might make decent money, but remember, you need to learn and one or two hubs simply won't do it. For example take me, I have almost 60 hubs at the time of this writing, and I'm still learning, now there is a steady stream of people coming to my hubs, it equals a bit more money. That is a bonus, but your affiliate programs such as amazon and and google and for some eBay are where they make their money.
These are the way you can make money by using the google AdSense Program and the amazon and eBay affiliate, but it does need some help, from you. Linking between hubs and social networking sites are a must, so these need to be cultivated and this takes time. You need to understand content and traffic and SEO if you want to follow the call of money.
The next steps are a bit trickier, mostly in terms of what to do.
Write A Hub with Good Content:Now this one is only part of it, when you write a hub with good content, work on the title of the hub as well. Something Short and Sweet but also something memorable. You see, If I like a hub I'll go to Stumble Upon and Share it with people, and they will share it with others, and the better the content and title the better chance there is of people finding it. They will find it on search engines through SEO (search engine optimization) and some will find it through social networking sites, all of which can provide you with money. Think of it as a content business.
Content is a must, as people expect things from my writing, and part of that is good content, I can't stress that enough. Most by now know my editing isn't great however, I try. I admit this off the bat, but the point is that the content is there, and people can understand it. It's simple and easy to read. The better the content the easier it is to get good traffic and good keywords from your hub. Once you have several good content rich hubs then begin the process of linking them together, and going to Google AdWords to see what it comes up for keywords for your hub.
Increasing Traffic:Traffic comes in many forms from search engines, and from hubpages and from social networking sites such as Stumble Upon and Digg. The most important of these I believe is Google and hubpages. Google and the other search engines are the ones who will bring both traffic and money. The search engines are the main source of money for you, as often people on hubpages won't click on an ad for fear they click on one of their own. That is why you should learn a few things about SEO, and google in particular.
This will also help you with Google AdSense, and my most favorite book out there on Google AdSense is Google AdSense for Dummies, as it explains the basics and we all need the basics. The next one on my list is The AdSense Code, a good primer, as it suggests ways of increasing traffic to your sites.

Money and Hubs... always go back to the basics:
When I first began this journey on hub pages, I wasn't moving out of my niche of writing, and I did spend a lot of time reading and bookmarking hubs I liked, I still do this, although not as often, in fact I always go back and reread many of my hubs I've bookmarked, and have added them to Stumble Upon.
For me, the writing is the hardest part, and yet, after reading many hubs, and getting my two basic books on Google AdSense, and learning the basics of Affiliate Programs such as Amazon and eBay, I've learned a lot. the most important is traffic, content, keywords, and SEO. learn the basics of these things to help you hubs.
Learning About Affiliate Programs:Those of Amazon and eBay, I've found more success with amazon provided that the books I use work for the hubs I write. I tend to suggest books after all I am a writer. I've found that with amazon, when people do go for a book, this works much better than the AdSense, so combined it works. You need to work on keywords and content and also some organic searches on amazon but this is also of value as it will help you learn a bit more about SEO and keywords, and with a google AdSense and Google AdWords you'll do well with both amazon and eBay.
Still, the important thing is this, write great hubs with content that people need to bookmark and send to other sites such as Stumble Upon or Digg, or Facebook, and also work on them, it does take time, and while you might not get a lot a month to begin with, you should ask yourself, why isn't this getting the traffic it needs or the money I want? If you follow the call of money you will get money, but it will take time, it is more important to write great hubs that people need to read and comment on.
What's The Hardest Thing For You?
See results without votingIf your answer is money... well learning from others is a good way to start, but also learning the things from your statistics will be a big help. also, learning about keyword research and what it can do for you in the traffic from the search engines.
Asking why, and where, and who and most important how will get you better results. Still there is the flip side to this thing called hubs.
What are your expectations? 17 hubs and no fans is a sign you need to work on getting the traffic to your hubs on a consistent basis, and that takes time, and effort. So what are you waiting for?
To Your Success.

Good hub with lots of useful information. I did not come to hub pages to make money, I came to write and experiment with various genres and styles of writing. After being here awhile, I decided to try adsense, but couldn't make the connection so gave up trying.
OHHHH, I was wondering what that little "*" meant. Thanks for that info too!
Hi Rebecca. I'm very cross with you! I discovered you recently on hubpages and have spent way too much time reading some of your excellent hubs and your writing blog, instead of getting on with my own writing! Seriously, thanks for all the great writing-related hubs. Love your work.
I didn't know about the $ thing under the Hubmetrics tab - thanks for pointing that out - good info to know.
Very practical and very helpful. Thanks
