Traffic and Backlinks and Google.

When you have some great traffic and it comes from Google or another place that you really want it come from, the chances are you don't want to do the little things, such as back linking or getting better search engine optimization or SEO. These take time, and when things go well you often don't want to take time, when it might go bad. It is all about linking and increase traffic from those links.

This is a business and, you do need to stay competitive-- at all times which means dealing with changes in terms of search engines and others websites. One way is to use the power of back-links, which increases traffic for you, but also increases your work online. See this is a business and at some point someone new and wonderful will come... and there goes your Google rank and your AdSense revenue.

There are three things which you stand to lose if you don't back link or don't bother to do something about it: Search engine traffic, Google AdSense money, and this is the big one, presence.

Right now you have a good rank on google but without backlinks there are three thing that can happen.

Good AdSense and Money and Search Engines

Google loves me now... but what about later: I'll put it to you this way, there are about a million websites up at any given second. (Okay I exaggerate) but the thing is they all want the same thing you have right now, a high page rank.

Now, thanks to MyWebs, I can explain this a bit clearer. What all your hubs need are a good page rank. At first you're probably saying, but I have a good rank. Do you? Are you so sure?

Let me put it to you this way, say I have a site on Google that uses the same keywords as you do. Now, I take that site and link it to a blog of mine, and then another hub, and then to the social networking sites (Say 3 different social networking sites) and then to a Squidoo lens, and then to yet an e-zine article. Who do you think will have the higher rank on the search engines?

The short answer? Me.

Why? (or the long answer) Google uses something called SEO. Now SEO is good for figuring out how to make a small site more visible. The idea is simple, while not all links are created equal, some links to a hub are better than no links. So, with Google this means at some point someone will take you spot....

Why? They have linked their hubs.

Okay, that's great but I am also making money with Google AdSense now... so why should I care?: Because if you don't lay the foundation for a good linked hub now, you'll be doing it too late when you've lost the tower you've built your business on. Also by the time you begin to fix the problem of no traffic or poor traffic or no money... you've lost a few big things: Time.

In terms of Google, I'll explain it this way, I can go and type in my title and my hub will come up, usually in the top ten. Now, I'll try a keyword, and usually that same hub is somewhere a few pages in. If I really wanted to I can look for it. I might it is my hub after all, but most readers won't

So, this is where linking comes in, Google like links and Google compares it to others with links and in essence "ranks" them. I believe that a high ranked hub also makes more money. That is just business logic. Still, by not adding links or editing your hub, will eventually create a chance to for some else to take your spot on Google...

Not by cheating but by linking.

That's great.. but I have traffic... and my keywords are helping me.. I really don't need to worry about linking, or do I?: That a great beginning, having good keywords. but it isn't the ending, see when writing think of linking as connecting two roads together. When you see a dead end, are you going to drive down it?

No, you might once if there is a need but then how do you find it again? That is what linking does, it helps traffic in the long term. Hubpages encourages people to link their hubs, but not over promote their other sites. It makes your hubs connect to the information highway. Google in fact likes these connections. If you have more connection you can make more money. It is a business after all.

Now, I read a lot of SEO and site promotion and one thing that I have come across is the idea of keyword research where you write in a keyword and then work with it. The biggest thing that these articles suggest is that you need to look for online articles from e-zine, or hubpages.

They have commented that you can beat out these online articles by adding and focusing more links than these other do. The point of the matter is that they suggest to look for hubs ( and other online articles) and focus on bringing them down... by... your guessed it linking!  They will use the social networking sites, and their websites and blogs to their advantage.  They will also use hubpages and other online sites to their advantage.  They'll do this by increasing their visibility.

I thnk I'll Link

  • Yes
  • No
  • I consider it
  • Maybe someday

I'll Think about it... but how long does it take? And most important what is in it for me?: Good questions, think about linking, between hubs, it really only takes a second to do, and in the long run makes traffic far more predictable than if you didn't have links.

It even takes less time to add a link to a social networking site, such as Stumble Upon all you need to do is press the button "Share It" on your hub, you don't need the URL tracker, but just the URL from your hub. If you have an account with the social networking sites, they do this for you. ( In other words, I simply hit "share it" and then it takes me to Stumble Upon, and I add the keywords and it adds the link... pretty simple)

What is in it for you are three things: less work, more traffic and potentially more money. But that takes time, and a bit of energy at the beginning.

To your success.

Nice hub. I also think that people underestimate the importance of linking and creating groups, but sometimes they also forget the meaning of keywords. Once they use too few, but on the other hand others use too much, irrelevant ones. I hope this hub helps for them.

Energy Advisor- I prefer to add a few links right away and then over the course of a few weeks build up my links on as many places as I can. I use ezine articles and I have heard GoArticles is good as well. Po, once I publish a hub I link it to three or four places, and then begin to add it to other places after that.

I've read you other Hub "make money 101" and this one is as great as the other one. But is what you're saying that you should begin with linking right after you finished your Hub? Or as soon as possible?
