How I Make Money With Google AdSense
66I run a business. This much you need to know: if you are here to get rich quick you are in the wrong line of work. Then again, there are a few things I have learned about the Google AdSense affiliate program over the last few months that has greatly improved my AdSense revenue. By doing these things I have improve how much I have made from Google by a lot more.
In English: Yes I make money with Google AdSense, and while I do not make $1000 per month with Google AdSense I do believe it is possible, if you are willing to actually work hard and do the work needed to make that money.
Now, of course I'll deal with reality, and the reality is that if the work is not done, you will never make $100, or even $10 per month. So, if you are looking for a get rich quick idea, there isn't one.
Content is A MUST: I can not say this enough is your content is poor and there is really no need for you to be writing this hub, other than for the reason of trying to get rich quick, then you should not be writing that sort of hub. The better the content the more likely people will look through your body of work. ( Trust me they do, I can add links and I still get comments on hubs that are nearly a year old)
The better the content the more likely people will see a reason for using the tips you suggested or will find a way to improve their work. The content you have also affects how people find your work on the search engines. (not so much monye but that is where links come in!)
Poor content and believe me, people will not come back. Poor content with keyword stuffing and trying to "skip" the work going into making a great site, and you will lose out in the end. Why? content is king.

Making Money Does Not Mean Count on Your Friends
It is not your friends who make you money: This seems to be the "thing" new writers do. They go to their friends and family and ask them to look at their work. They use a social networking site such as FaceBook and put their hubs there. Then they wait. Predictably nothing happens and they wonder why. They want money and they become disappointed when they add a few links and nothing happens.
The simple fact is to maximize your social network you need people to actually be interested in your work. This is not to suggest that you should not share with friends, but you need to know that you are limiting yourself by doing this. For example, your friends are not going to look at your profile which should be maxmized, but others will.
This is your business and nobody will care about your work if you don't. This is why I tell people you need to be "proactive" and you need to link between your hubs and put your hubs on Stumble Upon and Digg and other sites, and do this again and participate a bit on these sites.
It is not enough to simply sump your hubs on the site and hope for the best. No good enough. So then what is good?

Making Money Online means work.. your business your money, your traffic: Some will say put your sites everywhere, and they are partly correct. I tell people to put their hubs and blogs on stumble upon, but I also tell people the other part, that is to work to build their network. I do follow a lot of people there and slowly people are following me.
The one thing I have learned about money and making money online is that if you have five followers on Stumble Upon this will not help your hubs make money. End of Story. The same idea holds true for hubpages, the more hubs you have the more followers you need to make money.
So you need to add links to places where you have a following and you can expect that people will be interested in the work you are offering. You website or blog is a good beginning. If you add a link to one of your posts to a hub, then you will not only have a link but your will get traffic.

I Can Make $100 Per Month With Google AdSense In
See results without votingTraffic is Traffic but do You Know what sort of Traffic you need?: Now let's make an example, let's say you have 100 hubs and you are doing great you get about 300 visits a day. So, that great, but if all of these visits are averaged out per hubs then you get 3 visits per hub per day.
Not so great really, as you need a lot of traffic to make money. Some will suggest using keywords which have a high price for what "you can make" as a number of other hub writers have disproved this theory. (Quick example: If you and a million others make a site on make money.. will you... make money?)
Google AdSense is all about traffic and links, so I use the 80/20 rule to my benefit. I figure out which of my hubs have over time gotten the most traffic and I push these hubs. I also figure out by using Google AdSense channels and Google Analytics which have made me the most money in the past.
So while traffic is great have to promoted and focused on the correct hubs? By focusing on my best hubs, I have increased my traffic and my Google AdSense revenue.

See results without votingKeep focusing, or the last word: It is not easy deciding which hubs to focus your time and energy on, but it is a lot easier than to try to promote all your hubs and then not make money with Google AdSense or any of the affiliate programs. In a sense a hub is like a mini website.
Some will do well and make money and some will not. It is your business to make money and you work will show if your are wanting to build your business then money will come.
So remember this: Content, Participation, Linking, Traffic. These things will help you make money just like it did for me. The point is that you have to repeat this process with everything that you do online.
If you added one link and made one comment to make $1 dollar imagine what you can do by adding three links and writing some more interesting comments to your websites and blogs, and on others writing.
The process is boring and somewhat repetitive but the more you repeat the process of writing quality content and adding links to your websites and blogs the more change you will have to make money with the Google AdSense affiliate program.

That's very true! I liked writing all of my hubs, I only wish I would have paid more attention to SEO and such in my early days. Too many breaks as well!

gr82bme-- go to google adsense, then at eh main page click on teh channles by day reposts, from there on teh uupper right hand side is teh link that says manage channels. click it, then go to the URL channels, and add you URLS ( the website address you have to track)

Good content can get traffic every day. The best content is that which people want to know more about, and the Google Ads are just right. When that happens, people who want to know more will actually click on the ads. It is not always easy to get to this happy situation, but we keep trying.

Hi Rebecca - you are right content is king and now we have a change in google, this is more relevant than it has ever been. SEo is still important, but there is more emphasises on white hat methods of promotion. Automotion, for example, is definately a no no in the eyes of google. Thanks for writing

I'm nearing my first threshold of USD 100 after a year (15 dollars short) and I'll be celebrating my 1st year stay here at HubPages.
Well, I gained friends or even fre-nemies (just shrugged my shoulders). I cannot please everybody with what I write.
My only consolation is that Google AdSense approved my application after second try.

Great tips. It seems as long as the content is good and focused on a high paying Adsense term, you're bound to bring in some money (not a lot, but some). The people that make great money on Hubpages seem to either have outstanding hubs that have a lot new to offer, or they have a large quantity of quality hubs. Whichever the case may be, quality matters most - quantity second.
Joyce-- it is real imcome but you have to be really willing to work especially at the beginning.

Lorlie6, do not worry about that. Those people are not ad clickers. If you had an SEO course to sell them, or a book, yes, you would need to court them. All you need for ads is Google visitors.
In theory, they can help by promoting your stuff, but most of them are far too focused on promoting their own, unless you want to get into the incestuous back scratching that goes on there.
While I upload my hubs to StumbleUpon, Digg, etc., I know I do not spend enough time and effort at these sites to gain a following.

You do have to be in this for the long haul to get what you want out of it. It certainly isn't a golden goose. (But what is?)

Excellent as usual. As you point out, driving traffic requires a lot more than just writing and publishing hubs. Your advice to socialize on Digg (et al.) is a case in point. I can put lots of stuff there, but unless I work to get a following, no one will look at it. Time spent getting friends there, voting and commenting on their stuff, multiplied by the number of sites I want to use for driving traffic, is time I can't spend writing. But once I get it going, it should increase traffic to what I do manage to write and give it more of a chance to get some bux. It's hard to find the balance between writing, which is rewarding in and of itself, and promotion, which for me is not.

Another good reinforcement of the basics to building a great hubpages business to make money with google adsense Rebecca.
I do make $1,000 a month from Adsense and more on top of that from Chitika, affiliate sales and so on.
Some minor points "Poor content and believe me, people will not come back."
You do want good content, but you want it so that people will spread the word about it. "Coming back" is unimportant as far as Adsense goes (though for selling things like ebooks or services you do want repeat visitors). Most Adsense income comes from searchers, not regular visitors.
Not that I do NOT want people to come back, of course :)
For exactly the same reasons, "the more hubs you have the more followers you need to make money." is not really the issue. Followers (regular visitors) do not click ads very often. Again, you want them so that they will spread the word, so that they will link to you, so that they will leave comments that may create long tail keywords you never would have thought of and so on.
So yes, you DO want good content and you DO want regular and involved visitors, but the link to Adsense is one removed.

I am looking at all this internet marketing business as follows; I am not expecting big things for at least 2-5 years. After all how many other businesses out there could you do that in? If things happen sooner then I'll be more than happy of course.
All I'd like to concentrate on for now is getting good valuable content out there to develop a following that actually likes what I do!

I have heard and read many times over that it is possible. For many, we need to see the first few dollars come through to really believe and dedicate the effort to grow the income to the level that we all have in our mind.
$100, $1000, $10000 a month? Hey for now I'd be happy with the constant $100 a month :)
