Hubs and Hubpages: The First Four Months in the Hubpages Money Business
66Making Money With Hubpages: Content and a Fine Hub
The honeymoon period on hubpages... or the days of madness four months-- or zero to four months in oyur business. Now this might mean to some a time duration, say the time they signed up and then the next four months. To me it means zero to four months, as in the time that you decided to really make your hubpages experience into something and the four months after that. Again this is a business and it really when you decide to start your business that matters.
I look at this way did these four months make a difference to you? Did it mean success on hubs you wrote? More money or income for you? More traffic to blogs and other sites of yours? Getting your name out? What do these four months mean?
There are many things that this can mean, but whatever your reason for being on hubpages here are few things that must be done and understood. This will help you a lot on getting the money and success and whatever you want, a bit closer.
Hubs and Money and Publishing
Publishing Hubs: it's a learning curve to some, for others it's simply another hour in front of the computer. The idea is that you write a hub, and then edit said hub and then hit the publish button. Seems easy, and it should make money, and it possibly might get traffic. not likely.
Publishing hubs is one thing, but look at the more successful hubbers whom you think might make money online with their hubs. Do the footwork that is what the first four months are all about. Learn from others. Some know teh business well. They can Help You A lot.
For example if you are new and publish say three hubs in one day, well, your hub score wil not go up, in fact it will go down. Don't start by publishing hubs in a hard niche, unless you can manage a following.
Comment boxes: put them in and use them. If you don't sorry you won't have money or success. people want interaction not just a place to tell you how good you are or are not. There are also link capsules and they should be used with care. keywords (tags) are needed. Make them good and look at others hubs to see what words they are using. Research research and research, and find what works for others and for you.
Followers and Following and Traffic:I have some 800 fans (give or take a few) and guess what? I don't get them coming to each and every hub at once, or at all. Some aren't active on hubpages, some have essentially left, but kept their account.
Still having followers is a good thing, but be careful, in terms of thinking that this will mean more traffic, it doesn't. it does mean regular traffic, and regular comments, and some very good followers. Learn through your hubs who is more inclined to check out your hubs and go to their hubs. I can count on at least ten hubbers who will come and comment on my new hubs, but remember that took a long time. It really did.
I have published at this point about 90 hubs, which can be found on my profile in some type or other. Anyone can go to your profile and look at new hub, your best hubs and your hottest hubs. Use this to your advantage, add some of your hubs as links to your profile, so that people can find it right away. I prefer to click on the links on the profiles myself.
Followers like interaction and ease, but you should also work on being found on the rest of the Internet. That however should be secondary. Your hubs have to be as best as you can get them. Take advice as needed to make your hubs better.

Forums and Other Traffic Makers: Okay this is a big one but a small one, since it is a dangerous thing you can get lost. it's all about traffic, Go to the forums and look around, now on the forums you will get banned for personal attacks and linking to your hubs or other sites there. So go there to ask for help, or to help others.
Commenting on others hubs will also get you traffic, don't add links to your hubs there since it does look overly promotional and can be classified as spam. It is also not a place to ask too many questions. Still there are other things you can do.
Ask a question to a specific hubber (yes I do those! ask me anytime) and often they will make a hub or two on it. Comment on hubs, add fan mail to other hubber ( not the generic I like your hubs) This will at least get some people going to your profile and looking at your hubs.
The other thing is that to make money online with your hubs you need to increase traffic-- yes, by quite a bit-- so use the social networking sites, and also use the Google AdWords keyword tool to make sure you hubs and websites are optimized for the traffic which will click on your ads.
Linking Hubs and Making Money Online:If you want to make money on hubpages and on your blogs and other sites, you need traffic. The first four months are the most important in this. This is when you get fans and your reputation is established.
Biggest things: Your hubs and you hubscores, if your personal hub score is less than 75, get it up beyond that even if it means deleting poor hubs. Learn about the publishing rules and the content and keywords you are using. If your hubs are less than 60 this is bad, fix them or delete them or better yet unpublish them and fix them that way if they need a big overhaul. If you scores aren't going up this is a problem on hubpages, really anything less than 80 as a personal hub score is bad. You can do better than that.
You can link between your hubs, but you need to be careful. Over promotion will make a hub flagged pretty quick. If it's not got too many keywords, you won't get traffic the keywords and links are poor, you won't get traffic. Fix that now.
Success is up to you: These few things will help and some other methods such as getting on to Digg and Stumble Upon and putting links on your blogs, but making them better, and writing original content, that can't be found on the web are just one part. Getting on Google and other search engines are another, getting the correct keywords for google AdSense is another.
Commenting, Linking, writing great hubs, getting a good hubscores are other ways, Making some Money, is part of your success, but what will help you get there?
Other Readers, so do you best and as they say if you build it they will come... believe in your work, your writing, the publsihed content you wrote, and the rest isn't up to you but to others.
To your success.

Totally agree with you. I'm smitten by hubpages and the community and I'm here to stay.
Great job Rebecca, hope to put in practice your info.
Thanks for a great hub.
Voted up and bookmarked.
Thanks for your informative post. I wish I would have known your techniques when I first joined.
Very helpful -- thanks for sharing!
Good Advice, but can it be used for all online projects such as hubs or blogs or websites?
Great advice. Excellent hub.
I just wish to have more time to read hubs, you see Rebecca? I'm late here :(, sometimes I must make choices to read or to leave for another moment, and I hate doing it as I'd like to be always able to drop a comment, especially on friends' hubs. Having said that you've done another great hub. Full of sound advices as usual. :)
A very good hub, and not selfish of advices and tips. Very well done. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I appreciate that Rebecca. :)
oh, absolutely! lol
It's funny Rebecca, I just made a comment on one of your blog posts about this very thing! :) Keep up the great work
0 to 2 weeks and ive learnt quite a lot thanks to people like you :D
Masterful Rebecca. Thank you again for your superb and oh so helpful instruction. I love to wax eloquent but strain to get the technical part even though I once was a science major. Baby steps...I'm going to place a text link now and then maybe an RSS feed on my Arnold page....If you don't hear from me for a few days you'll find me staring blankly at my laptop with my hands frozen in the air above the keyboard. =:)
I'm couting my "actual" time, as you put it, the time since I actually started using HubPages as about 5 or so weeks, considering I published my first hub on the 18th or so of December last year. And it's definitely a learning curve...but its interesting as well to see what works and what doesn't. I, of course, write mostly opinion and/or commentary, I'm trying to write more of what I would call "anchor hubs", or hubs that are not time or current event specific, that can be relevant any time after its written. Still, this early on its hard for me to tell what seems to be working better since the numbers really do fluctuate as I'm building readers.
Excellent hub!!!!!!
The whole text provides huge knowledge and information. The hub is very unique and user-friendly. Thanks a lot for providing so fruitful information. The clarity and balance shine from this writing. It can be regarded as one of the most intriguing writing.
What can I say but - excellent hub! I know it sounds trite but it really is. I wish I read this when I first started in hubpages.
Thank you Rebecca!
Really interesting!!
This is great advice for newcomers. Thank you for writing this, I found it very helpful.
I am still new at this and I found this very helpful I appreciate your help. Great Hub.
This is a Good Hub I needed to read this 11 months ago thanks.
Ah! My dearest Becca...
Geez! When I thought I had it all figured out,
you come up with hubs like this one! It`s been
great reading it and again it has helped me very
much so!
Thanks for being here! I do appreciate your presence
in this community!
Warm regards,
Al
Thank you Rebecca, I can't tell you how helpful your hubs are. I really appreciate them very much. I also book mark all of them, as a matter of fact I might just name a folder the Rebecca files for success.
Great Rebecca E- Each and every hub of yours is very unique and user friendly, what else can I say, you are a gifted writer, keep on with the quality hubs
Another lil cracker Rebecca for both newbies and older members that haven't got to grips with things after 4 months, deff always enjoy reading yer hubs !
Thanks for the good advice! Yes, hubpages *does* seem a bit of a mystery at first. But certainly good guidance. ;-)
Outstanding hub and some really great infomation. I am bookmarking this hub so I have the links to your other infor hubs. I am still on the honeymoon phase and learning thanks to you and other hubbers. Thanks for taking the time to teach us.
Rebecca, I always learn so much reading your hubs and I often read them more than once. There is a lot to learn and I want to write well when I spend much of my time at the computer. Thanks.
Rebecca, hey, it's me again. HubPages represents maybe 10%-20% of the overall Unchained Grace Ministries operations. Quite honestly, I'm not looking at numbers.I simply write what God puts on me. I most assuredly will comment and read as many Hubs as I possibly can. I do this not for scores or to wheel and deal the search engines. God will bring those to my Hubs who He sees fit. I've only been here maybe a month or two. I am very grateful that there are those whom have chosen to follow what has been written and as I've said previously, new comments and fanmail shows me people are liking what is written.
I'd like to make some many in the process but that's not why God led me here. If I don't make a dime then I don't. Hallelujah anyway. If something I write touches someone in a positive way? Well, that's like Fort Knox to me.
You are an amazing Hubber, plain and simple. This is yet another example of your straightforward advice that comes from a very reliable source.
Thanks Rebbeca E, for another great hub, I appreciate you and your efforts. have a blessed day. creativeone59
Your "hubbing" hubs always offer excellent how-to information. Thanks. 800+ followers - wow. Would like to know how many hubs do you follow?
Besides the great advice in the above Hub, just looking at how you set up your Hub visually is as important as the words within the Hub. Plus, one of your links answered one of my "How do I do this?" questions.
Thanks
I am in the thick of my first four months and I am not publishing or connecting myself as much as i need to I feel that i am struggling a bit with the leg work as you put it but i know i can always come to you for thoughtful insight. Much thanks
You are a pro that is for sure. I continue to be a loyal follower and I have learned a lot from your hubs. I keep them for reference in my handy dandy bookmark folder. Keep up the great work I want to see you get 1000 followers.
Sincerely, Tammy
Great advice. Over 800 followers and 91 hubs in only four months is amazing!
Well written and clearly to be able to understand easily. Thank you for your help.
Again you have written another very useful hub for all hubbers beginning to pros. Thanks Rebecca E.
Great advice, once again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Off to check my hubs, now.
Again, great advice for hubbers who are seasoned veterans and rookies/newbies. I like how you made links for some of the best hubs here at HP that may help others (I read all of them by the way). One of the things that I learned while being here is to expand your horizons so in that way, you reach a larger demographic that may not in normal circumstances read you choice of topics.
Thanks again, Rebecca!

rajan-- stick with it, I've hjeard it takes about 3 years for the hub (one hub which you've worked hard on) to come to the height of its "glory"
