I Get Paid for Writing, But There is One Fact About Making Money Online... and With Affiliate Programs Such as AdSense
71Money and Payments
Most Internet marketers and online writers publish their work to make money online with it. However there is one simple fact that seems to be missed by those who are not professional writers. That is to get paid, you need to think long-term and you need to publish quality work. This is a business where your publishing makes money, but also how you get traffic to your online work. It is also a business, where payments of this promised money are important.
Writing for money is one thing. In fact I believe that writers, and their writing are a very noble profession, and I have learned a lot because of many great writers. They do want to get paid for their work, but they also look at a place such as hubpages or other online writing sites as just that "writing"
There is nothing wrong with this business sense. The thing is that to write, and published online and get paid. Money does come from writing, but you can make it a lot easier on yourself.
I want to Get Paid Money Now.
That is the first thing that can be the hardest to accept. Every writer wants to make money, but not every writer who publishes will make money. The key thing is that it is more of a "marketing" with online writing than it is anything else. That has a lot to do with promotion of your published works after you have improved upon them. Not just for SEO purposes, but for the content of what your reader will read.
Big blocks of text are viewed poorly as opposed to the same word count broken up into smaller paragraphs and text blocks (capsules on hubpages) This makes the online reader think it is shorter than what it really is.
The other thing to beware of is: Money for "Nothing" now by this it means if you get someone asking you to write something short but for a lot of money, think logically and not money fast like. Writers can lose a lot more than their reputation this way.
Getting paid for the work you do is a process, and you need to understand contracts and the business of providing a service to others. In many ways it is about marketing you and building a profitable brand. People have choices and they are paying you, their choice.

So.. You Mean Business?
Writing is a business, and often if you want to get paid you will have to market yourself and your work. You will also have to be very careful about copyrights and copying of your work. I've said it once, but I will say it again, copied content kills a writer.
You will never build your business if you have hubs or blogs or websites copied by others. The simple thing is to know who and what makes you money, and what needs to be cared for. Some writers have said protecting their writing is the biggest part of their business.
Google AdSense is adamant about this and says that they take a dim view of content which is copied without permission. If you have many hubs, use hub-defender to find out which of your hubs have been copied. File a complaint if you do find illegally copied work. Otherwise it will destroy your business.
This is a business, and you need to work hard at your business to make money with your writing. You also need to know what is protected for you, and what is not protected, you have copyrights and what you have written on writing sites are published works.
Money Is Money but Writing is
a means to money. You can make money any which way you might like, but if you are writing, you will often want to make money. Rather, you want to get paid for your hard work. This is why talking or writing about Google AdSense is so popular. This is also why writing takes a backseat to money sometimes.
Money is Money, but writing is a means to money. You will need to think in many different ways to get paid online, use pay pal write a blog with Google AdSense on it, write freelance, there are millions of ways to write.
Just as there are millions of ways to get paid, pay-pal, direct deposit, checks and cash. The point is as a writer you will need to know a bit of the business end of writing and marketing your "brand"

I Write But Don't Get Paid
In this business, you have to be smart, if you are writing for someone else, as in a regular blog of someone else, not what you write say on hubpages or Squidoo or your own blog, you will need to be paid.
Make certain you have everything in writing. Make sure that you can contact the other party in teh event you do not get your funds. Also do not sell yourself short. If you write a 500 word article, make certain that you are paid for your efforts.
I know this happens, but if you can not contact the other person who you need payments from, let it go and do not work with this person again. You, as a writer need to receive payments, and if the lines of communication are closed, then cut your loses.

The Most Important thing for me in Terms of Writing

There are three things which you need to bear in mind when writing for a living:
1) It is a business.
2) you need to Get Paid.
3) You need to be passion but you also need to make money.
This is a big business, and writing is a part of it and so is promotion and getting paid. The importance of knowing how to build a business is all a part of... the writing business. Payments can mean anything so be prepaired to keep on writing and improving. Stop for a moment and think of this comment:
With writing if it isn't working can you personally tell yourself why and then fix it? If you can then you will make money with your writing-- which can include online writing, and book publishing.
To your success.

for reasons best left to myself I decided on your poll to put all of the above.
Thanks a lot, am quite improving my hubs a bit, don't know when i will be perfect in publishing new hubs the way you do. But I like to get some more help by reading your hubs. Thanks for that. Bye
Don't mention it friend, keep up the same good work.
A lot of very good info. on writing online and I agree you really need to be passionate about it.
Thank you for your advice really!!!
Great practical advice. Thanks for this hub!
Indeed, we have different reasons why we write. Thanks for the insight, eh.
Hub defender is an awesome tool!
Taht Hubdefender sounds good and I must take the time to look into it.
good info. I looked at other sites, outside of HubPages, for additional income but felt my own sites will do better.
Really great points. Will keep those in mind.
Rebecca, I always love your advice. I know I like to get paid for my work.
Thanks for the great information.
Thanks for reminding us, Becca, about following up to learn if our hubs are being copied by "dastardly thieves."
Yes, but there are choices for getting paid, too. Obviously you can sell your writing or your time and most people understand that and getting paid by running ads instead.
However, there is a third way, seldom mentioned here. That is writing to promote awareness of some other business you have. That's where most of my "writing money" comes from.
You are so direct. "I need to get paid" will be my slogan from here out. Thanks Rebecca!
I know I am way behind because I did not know about Hub-
Defender. I'll use it from now on as I have come across some of my content copied illegally. So, at least I can protect my Hubs.
Thank you Rebecca, for a great hub,as always. Keep up the good work. Godspeed. creativeone59
Thanks for mentioning HubDefender - ensuring that our work as writers is not copied is so important!
Imagine if you went to your day-job and found out that someone else was getting your paycheck by taking credit for your work. That just would not stand IRL, and yet so many online writers don't realize that others may be stealing their work and getting paid for it!
Another great hub for writers who want to make money online!
I enjoyed this hub Rebecca. You certainly provide us with good tips.
Nice insight:)
Great hub! I loved the advice given here!
