I Want Money. I want IT! So What Do I Need to Do to Get (or Make) Google to Help?

Google AdSense, and Fine Hubs
This is something most people think about do not really say: I want to make money. In fact I want to make money online and make money with hubpages (they would prefer to publish as few hubs as possible but maximize their profits or income or whatever.) I have some great hubs, and I believe that they should make me money. (Or at least this is what they will tell you-- minus the hints of frustration that their fine hubs are doing poorly)
Look I typed everything in, then I added a video and a few links and then I added more content. And, then I wrote more hubs, and then I added more links, and lo and behold I make like, 50 cents a day... what is going on?-- I published a great piece of writing!
I hear it all the time, know, we all want it, that say ten or fifteen dollars a day from Google AdSense, and then all you will need to do is just lay back and the money will come in, nice and fast... right? it seems you are doing everything correct, and if you are very honest with yourself you know that you have published a number of high quality fine hubs. Right?
Wrong. This is a business and if you want to go about earning anything you will have to prove it to others and also to Google and the other search engines. That takes time.
FACT: The Internet does not care about you... so you need to prove a few things. Want to make $10 a day, do want to earn $100 a day? Prove it.
This is the law of the Internet, or if we really want to be picky, Google. You can think your hubs are great but if you do not get links (besides your own) you have a problem. A very big problem. This problem is that most people might not say it, but they really do not like your hubs.
The best way to prove this theory of course is to have Google Analytics on your hubpages account, since it gives you a lot of valuable information: including the time spent on your hubs. So, if you get say 100 visits and they are only there for less than 10 seconds, well I will let you decide what you need to improve.
Either way, you also need some good content and good keywords for people to find and stay on your hub, and any other sites you might work on. Use Google to make money wisely.

FACT: Learning about how Google and Hubpages works, and then you MIGHT make money, and not before.: It makes no sense to think you will make say $10 a day (which is $300 a month) from Google AdSense (via hubpages) if you do not even know how hubpages operates.
Some new hub writers come to hubpages and within 10 minutes have their profile and and are going to the answers deck asking why they haven't made any money. Okay, nice question but really I want to ask them. is well, have you thought about writing a hub? A profile is great but if there is not a hub in sight you have no means to make money.
Also, having a thousand hubs, with no links is also a bad thing. In fact there are a few hubs which have their own PageRank. That means they have links to them done by others, which means that the content is awesome... so your links and your content also have a lot to do with how your work is perceived. So it is a matter of content and quality links and getting traffic, and content.
Also, your personal hub score has TONS to do with making money, really it does, you make a bit more money the longer you are here, but also the higher you hub score does affect traffic to your hub. (frankly if you want to make money with "making money" hub, a personal score of 80 or less is not going to help you, and a hub score of say 85 or less is a problem which needs fixing)

Money is Money... and Google AdSense is doing you a favor: I find it funny that many publishers believe that they are doing Google A favor by applying to Google AdSense. The reason I find it funny, is that most publishers do not make a payout and do not make money for Google. (or them for that matter)
So, really you are applying and you need to build up your business so that Google in its many forms "sees" that ever so often you are needing a bit of help from them. I spend a lot of time learning about proper links and about my business and how i can improve it. I make money and I want to make more, and that means learning as much as I can about Google.
One book which has helped me a lot if Google AdSense for dummies, and this has allowed me to learn from Google. Ad placement and maximizing you content so that your work is natural and sound great is one big thing to make Google "see" you are two must things for your work.

See results without votingSo what helps? The last word-- links are vital but again do not go and put a zillion links to your sites and then expect people to come if the content isn't so great. It is all about content and others linking to your work that makes a huge difference.
One thing about getting Google to help you.. really it is all about helping yourself, as Google has about a billion people anting them to help their site make them money. Your hubs, your sites your online articles, your content, your keywords... this makes you money. Google needs to notice you, but you need to build your work to higher standards.
Notice anything? It is all about you getting your work noticed by Google.

Kelly-- backlinks are the blue things found on your hubs, so if you were to type in a website, and it turn blue with an underline this is a link, as it gets you from one place to another. The number on your pic is important if you have a number below say 75 which means all your links are nofollow (a fancy term for people who are big on things like search engines) teh most important thign is do the best you can.
Pr-am-- these are things learned and it has to be quality backlinks which are vital, no more no less. Otherwise you will lose out in the end.
xlorah-- it is true you need to be consistant and realize and Google is a bsuiness and if you do these things... so are you.

I agree totally with these Google Adsense tips. Being consistent in publishing quality contents and equally having back links from relevant sites are very important techniques for anyone wishing to make money with Adsense.

masmasika--it is a process, where you write a hub and then begin to build links to it, and that part takes a lot of time to do, so keep on building up those links.
hubpageswriter-- this is so true, teh more time you take to build up your work via links and participationt eh more likely you will make money. It just takes time!
AdSense is fickle Mistress, some days you look and you make a few bucks, and others you make hardly anything at all. My advice is don't rely completely on AdSense to make your financial goals come true. There are other options and while HubPages is a great place to get exposure and get your feet wet, don't under estimate having many irons in the fire. Use your experience you gained here and start your own blogs or websites. This will give you even more creative freedom of Affiliates, ad placement and content design. People that are making a lot of money are those that are diversifying with lot's of websites, great SEO and doing many things well at once.

If you want to earn anything with Adsense you will have to wait. Work, work, work and wait. Nothing with Adsense is fast. If you wanna fast money try something else.

I have more than one hundred hubs already and only cents are appearing in my account. I wonder why when my score is always above 90. mikiy-- really, you will need to go back and look at your hubs and see what can be improved to make some money, in other words check out your backlinks.

Polly- I use yahoo and go linkdomain and then add the website I want to know who has linked it to, and this will give me a very good idea on sepcific hubs.

Hi Rebecca, great hub as usual. I do have one quick question regarding links, in fact I have been wondering about it for a while. How do you know where your links come from, unless you put them there yourself? I only wonder because I have a couple of hubs showing 4* links on hubs stats, yet I only gave them one or two low quality ones. If you could spread any light on this for me, I would really appreciate it :)
Very helpful and informative hub for both new hubbers and experienced hubbers. It's always helpful to read more and learn more about Google and GoogleAdsense. I think the key is spending more time on quality hubs, being willing to learn more, establishing links and striving for success!

sue-- I am a bit confused as well, with Google AdSense, you will in fact need to contact them as for link they are what you would put in blue on a hub or add a link capsule for. (this would be teh website) In terms of Google hubpages has a FAQ that you can follow. I will contact you.
as always great hub. I am finally seeing the light with the money making part of hubpages. It is my belief that you begin to make a little money when you care more about what you write (along with all of the linking and more) than about making loads of money. If you listen to those who know what they are talking about and follow their advice - the money will follow.

Rebecca I read your article and I'm more confused now than I was. I don't understand what you mean by links. I have tried several times to get hooked up with google adsense and evert time they deny me. Some thing about url website, I thought they were talking about hubpages. On the account side at the bottom it says I have 920 I think I haven't been there yet today I was headed there when I saw your article. I know what you mean some of my articles don't seem to get read and than there are some that do. So I average out about half. Some times I think I should erase all the bad and try a little harder to put in ones that draw attention. Not sure about that either. This is all new to me and I'm having trouble understanding. Sunny- yes it can be, but Google Analytics can be a bit confusing since it tracks all of our page views ( which are different than impressions... still it is very valuable.

It's strange how watching those cents and dollars can become an obsession. Can you explain the analytics a bit more?

Great hub! I'm on the path to getting more money on Adsense, but it will take some time. Hearing all of your stories keeps me motivated though. :)
(Well, that and the fact I'm pacing myself better than when I started. :D)
I am beginning to chip away at the barrier to AdSense success. I feel like at my current pace i can reach the first pay out by next month. Hopefully I will increase the conversion % so that the next pay out comes soon thereafter.
Thanks for all your tips that help us inch our way to AdSense competence. It is certainly a business and those willing to learn all they can will harness AdSense sooner.
Making money online is like walking a tightrope. If you put too much weight on content and not enough on links, you will lose your balance and fall. If you backlink everything and your content is bad, well--you will also lose your balance and fall (or fail, depending upon how far one is willing to go with the metaphor). We are certainly not doing Google any favors just by being here.
I also find the "instant results" questions amusing, but suspect that many folks are baffled by the many "make money online fast and easy" articles they read. If they join HubPages and see 175,000 writers here, they must say to themselves, "Hey, with all those writers here, it MUST be easy!" And then they immediately wonder what went wrong.
Thanks once again for your insights. As always, you have articulated what it takes to even have a chance at making money here. Let's hope the folks that need this the very most find you here before it is too late.
