I Want The Money! Lots Money! (Quick Question... how Many Hubs Do I Need to Make?)
66Hubs and Making Money and Making Money Online Goals
So, you want to make a lot of money and you want to do this with as little effort as possible, and you are willing to write 500 hubs in a year to do this? Honestly really? You want to build your business that way, and you think that you will make money with Google AdSense?
Fine my quick answer: One, it isn't going to happen, and two if you want to write spam like hubs, do not be surprised if you make zero dollars. Your first hubs on hubpages might be great, but very quickly they will be nothing more than spam. If you want to be considered a spammer, then so be it, but if you want quality it is a process in making money-- it builds up over time.
Since I am answering this, I'll give you my longer answer which is actually simple, you can write 500 hubs and make nothing, or you can write 20 hubs and make a lot of money for your business. In other words you are your business, and you need to provide quality hubs.
Your Business, Your Hubs
It is all about professionalism. I can certainly write 500 hubs in a year, but they would all be of such poor quality I'd never show my face on hubpages again after doing such an act. I feel that my hubs are a part of what I give to the community. They are also a part of my business.
I have found that writing a hub at the steady pace is much better than chasing the Google AdSense money train. Since most people want to make money, they need to understand and accept that there are times that without the "other part of working" they will not make anything.
Quality hubs are what make great topics. Spam like hubs create a poor impression. In fact if you are not getting traffic from hubpages you have a problem. You can get stats on up to 30 places which are giving you traffic over time (your top 30 if you have more sources of traffic) If you have been writing on hubpages for a while, you should aim for at least ten sources of traffic to your hubs.
This is you business, and your hubs, and without great hubs, it does not matter how much you think you will make writing 500 hubs over a year, if they are spam like you've done yourself a disservice.

But, But I Have Quality Hubs... And I Don't Make Money!
Okay, Let us do an experiment here. Go on to google and type in your title of your hub. Do this on Yahoo as well. Where is your hub based upon the title? Can you find it in the top ten? Can you find it on the second page? If not you have a problem.
There can be a few problems: One, you title is too general, two you might not have enough links, or three you simply have a topic that is very popular. In terms of a hub, if your hub started at a score of 50 and has not moved beyond a score of 60, it isn't a quality hub. Go back and fix it. (Note: Newer hubs need time to build, this is for hubs that have been around for at least 6 months... the ones where you have had time to add links, and polls and other things to them.)
If this is the case, your content needs to be of great quality, by this I mean you need to make it interesting, have a few bits of facts that others wouldn't think about, and you are willing to learn a bit more. A Good hubs has at least 500-800 word of original content, written by you.
Then there is this: you can have quality hubs and still not get the money you want.
Are You Saying Quality But Pennies?
No, not at all, what I telling you is that what you think might be great (we all have blinders on about our work!) is in fact something that is either too short or could stand some edits or a long hard look at how the hub is constructed. If you have fixed these and still find notes from the hubpages team, find out how to fix them. The biggest problem is listed below:
Be very very vigilant with copied hubs. If you find your hubs have been copied, you need to file a complaint as soon as you find out. Why? Because if your hub is found everywhere, you will lose money. So, even if you do have 500 quality hubs, if it is copied, you will lose money. And no, not even a link to the original work counts. it is called stealing for a reason. Google AdSense does not take kindly to copied hubs or websites for that matter. if you find a hub that has been copied either contact the owner of said hub, or if it is yours file a complaint.
This can be the main source of lost income, but that is only if your work is of quality, and you have spent time creating great hubs, with quality links and have increased traffic over time. Slow and steady is the best suggestion. In other words mind your business. This is your business, and this means you need to be aware of your business and this includes copied hubs and poor quality hubs.
Many Hubs= Much Money?
If you write 500 hubs in a year would you make enough money to live off of?
See results without votingSo you are saying?
You want to make money? You need to think beyond writing a ton of hubs and think about the big picture. This means, your title, your content, your other picture placed in the correct places, and having your hub be useful for others.
Again I will say that writing 500 hubs in one year is possible, but really, it would not be well done, and you run the risk of not making money long term. Google AdSense likes quality and so does hubpages.
Again, writing a hub means writing well, being original and providing useful information. It also means that you write at your own pace and you write your work for you, and be passionate and enjoy your business.
To your success.

Thank you for a very insightful hub. I've learned a lot.
Very useful Hub! I am new here, glad I found it!
More useful common sense. You've got to put heart and love into your pieces and not just concentrate on the money. Hubpages gives me a great emotional uplift and outlet the money is just gravy. Voted up, marked useful, awesome, bookmarked and shared. Peace and love to you and yours my enlightened friend.
It is all about value. Plus you can use hubpages and other networks to link to affiliate programs and make money. I have $30 toy sites that by themselves make over $200 per month. So is more definitely possible? Absolutely! 500 quality hubs is 500 times you have to market 500 different things. Let's assume you do keyword research and pick high searches, easy easy search engine words. That is 500+ ranking articles basically. If you link to something where you make $10 a sale that is $5000 a year. You link to something higher paying like $100 commissions and that is $50,000 a year. You need a niche, keywords you can rank for, keywords people are searching for, a good product, and quality content to link them into the offer.
A great hub, very informative...
Thanks for sharing this high quality, useful hub. I got a lot of tips from the video.
Sound advice, given in a forum that is easily understood. I have been a hubber for about a year. I have 7 hubs, but was shot down by Amazon, Google, etc.. Guess, I was not traffic worthy enough for them. I would like to make money, but struggled with what to write about that would be interesting enough or competitive enough in this type of forum. I would really appreciate it, if you have time to take a look at my hubs and tell me what I am doing wrong and give me suggestions that you think may be helpful. Thank you for your time and I wish you continued success in all you do.
Gina
good advice, thanks for sharing.
Good article and good perspective as always, RebeccaE. I believe a writer can write 500 Hubs in a year that are of good quality under these conditions: create a "template", write around 10 Hubs on similar topics, break the 500 into "x" amount of product Hubs, "x" amount of How to Hubs, travel Hubs, "x" amount of Hubs on other Hubbers. Spend 8 hours to 10 hours per week writing. I'll go see how many I've written this year. I think about 100. May be I'll take that on as a challenge for 2011.
your articles are always right on Rebecca!!! I always learn something thank you!!
but I have a question...how do you find out if your work has been copied?
Great hub! I will definitely try to keep everything you said in mind while I am writing my own.
another great hub rebecca:)
I try to do both, quantity and quality but have not succeeded in earning money as much as I want to and have to.
This hub was extremely helpful to me! Your hubs are always so helpful to me as a newbie on hubpages. Thanks!
It is understandably difficult to be patient when trying to earn money writing online, but this type of patience somehow seems more difficult for folks to understand. We can understand trying to build traffic to a hotel or a restaurant, but we think a web site is going to be a golden goose for us within hours or days. It's all the same, as you continue to point out in your articles so well. Thanks for the help, it is always appreciated.
Mike
There's no WAY I could pump out 500 hubs a year. I find the best I can do is a few hubs a week and then I have to take a break. I agree with you though - quality is better but most people will need quantity too!
good advice...thanks for the info...i will check google search tonight!
I'm not entirely sure how much grammar/spelling contributes to good hubs, but I'd do a close edit over your hub. "A Good hubs has at least 500-800 word of original content, written by you." (comma needs to be removed, though it can be replaced with a dash for emphasis). Writing it in a word processor with spelling and grammar check helps; then paste it into the text capsule.
The short answer I'd give to the question how you make money fast on Hubpages: you don't.
Well said,Will apply it in my first hub. Thanks alot Rebecca.
Great hub. Good to know I can write fewer hubs with greater money. Thanks!
I'm with you. Let the money flow!
Wow. Great advice. Thanks for pointing out all possible flaws.
I wish I had success with hubs but I've stopped at 80 and now I've been banned by google for a tos violation. Dont know what happened. I only earned $36 in 18 months so it was no great loss. Now I read not write!
I do believe in quality over quantity.
The subject matter you chose is usually the kind of hub that turns out to be spam, but you put your heart into it and reiterated HP's motto: quality over quantity is the standard to uphold and yields better results over time.
I have a few followers that write spam, drives me nuts. Why write garbage?
Good hub Rebecca, it's reminding me to keep it real when I do get back into writing.
Thank you for a another great hub, especially the advice that newer hubs need time to build.
Thanks, I got some interesting at your hub. I just add a note, when you write 500 hubs, you may learn from other writers about keyword, SEO, back links. With 500 hubs, you will have enough experience to make good money, if your hubs are original content and useful. If you do like this, it will be a real challenge. When you pass it, you can success with your money dream.
If you could find a way to inject patience in all the writers looking for answers to making more money with their hubs, you would have it made. But since that ain't gonna happen, write on, Becca dear.
I think you are right on. And, this isn't the first time. Very well-written hub full of content. Thank you.
Great and useful Hub, 20 full of quality and full of money, thanks for this insightful.
I've rated this Hub as 'funny' because the title made me laugh.
You are simply genius at writing titles!
Oh - and your hubs are good too.
I dream to be like you Rebecca! :)
The simple answer is to do both - hundreds of quality hubs.
Except that's not so simple, is it?
You give hubbers some good things to think about. The quality vs. quantity debate is certainly an important one.
Thanks Rebecca, you always steer others in the right direction. I thoroughly enjoyed this hub.
Definitely a thumbs up.
Good advice. But I bet 500 hubs all about the same topic and all linked would get results. LOL . I have written 11 hubs in 12 months. So, I hardly speak with authority.
You know I loves yer hubs but in this case I disagree. I have found with Hubpages Yieldbuild that with 500 hubs even a fool could make a monthly income.
Most ads on Hubpages are not related to the topic anyway and I have made money from unrelated ads. I do agree with quality but many average writers on here are making loads by pumping out a hub a day.
Enjoyed yer hub though ; )
Thank you RebeccaE, great hub, I appreeciate all your hubs. I have had at least three hubs copied, One has taken down one and I still have two others to get rid of. I was really shocked that someone copied my hubs. Thank you for the advice. Godspeed. creativeone59
Great hub, Rebecca! A very well-balanced approach. thank you again ...
up & useful! You always hit the nail on the head and tell us straight up to work before we can expect anything. Thanks for your honesty...
Hi Rebecca,
I don't know why my avatar did not upload there. So I'm just telling you that's me up there.
Jill
Dear Rebecca,
You always make great sense in your hubs! You are really awesome when it comes to telling us about writing and making money.
Voted up and useful!
Another one of your hubs bookmarked and voted up. You are a fountain of useful knowledge for this newbie - thank you!
Another great hub Rebecca! I swear I take something out of all of your hubs! Keep up the great work! This goes hand in hand with my hub about getting your hub to the top of Google, you start by getting the traffic and the followers and then you can start making some real money! Great hub!
