A Common Issue? Google AdSense and Hubpages and No Traffic: I've Got a Problem!! How to Make Money and Increase Traffic
72Money, Traffic and Google AdSense
I wish I could fix the world when they say I've got a problem! but really it's not a simple solution. Rather it's not a solution that people want to hear in regards to hubpages, money, google AdSense and the like. there is no quick fix to fix problems. This is a business, and often the root cause of money and making money is how you mind your online business.
Some people don't make much money on hubpages plain and simple. Some people do, and no matter how hard you try you still can't do anything like what they've done. Yes go ahead publish hubs, publish with passion... keep on writing and making some money
But, there is still that problem. No money, no clicks, and no traffic. I've Got a Problem! Yes I know, so here a few ways to help with hubpages and traffic, and maybe you wan't be saying I've got a problem, making a lot of money increasing traffic a lot... to your success.
Increasing Traffic... Easy
Traffic is the easiest fix... sort of:there is only so much you can do, but I found that commenting on others blogs and on your own also hold true for hubpages. Not only does it provide you with a link, but it also helps others see that you read their work as well. Don't write a blog? don't have a website?
Easy... get one. there are many free blogs out there, blogger wordpress and Typepad to name a few. (Typepad does have some "pay blog part as well) I have two right now, and also do guest blogging and other things related to my blogs and hubs. This adds some traffic because a new audience sees me on different blogs, mention one of your hubs if you can, but not overly promotional only if it fits.
Go to Stumble Upon and get an account, and start by putting your hubs on there, then got to Digg, and Facebook and do the same process all over again. All your hubs, and if you don't like your hub or it's too short or it doesn't look good, well, fix it. But that is next.
Mention hubs on your blogs, but also put your most favorite hub or two on your email address, and be sure to be professional in your emails. Also link your hubs in your blogs and on ezinearticles, again not too many but a few will do. The key to this is to repeat and repeat again, especially with e-zine articles.
Don't do the same hub over and over use different hubs to keep people interested. It's the same with linking on hubpages, fix up your profile to list about 10 to 20 hubs that you like, and that do have some links to other hubs of your that are not on the list.
This of course isn't a guarantee for traffic but it helps, the more links you have the better off your hubs are in the search engine world.
Money Publishing and Other Matters
Do you want the Reader to Care?:I wrote the hub Why Should We Care? and gave fifteen ways to make the reader care. Guess what it's still true, if your reader cares or likes your hub, they will Stumble Upon it send it to Digg, and Facebook and their blogs ( I know I do. Why aren't you?) and this gets them fired up. The other things is to go farther than simple social networking sites.
The point is to make money online, you need to publish hubs and you need to add more than a few links and increase traffic to your work. Stop complaining and build your online business to make you money.
You Are a Published Author when you publish a hub or a blog: Okay this is the evil editor coming out in me or the non text messaging person. This is a hub and a blog you are writing. Do not ever ever ever put "u" or "r" or any other type of short hand that comes with text messaging or twitter. Not only is it unprofessional, but you are not getting your message across. You are a published author prove it. If you wonder why your score is too low, read the hub out loud. If you see words that shouldn't be there fix them. You have a reputation to uphold. My reputation is as valuable as the next person. Frankly this is why text messages drive me nuts. Call me old fashioned, but please don't write a hub like you write a text. Rant ended.
The Ebb and Flow of Money and Traffic
Traffic comes and goes..but no traffic is a bad sign:When writing a hub understand that traffic will come and go and in spikes and other ways, so don't panic, look at your hubmetrics and stats and you'll get an idea of what is going on. the big issues is no traffic. you've done all the networking and everything and you get one or two people coming and reading but no comments,. Then you need to worry, look at your content, look at everything in your hub, your tags, your writing style, everything, try to fix it, and if that doesn't work and it is something that should be making money on google and AdSense, then think and perhaps delete that hub. But again traffic comes and goes, but no traffic none after networking and everything else is a bad sign.
Hub Scores.. Yes you need to pay attention!: You shouldn't get too worried about hub scores they do go up and down but the important thing here is that they are constant, if there isn't a lot of traffic to a hub, or it simply doesn't make much on google AdSense, this isn't something to worry about, much. What you do need to worry about is big drops. By big I mean your personal score was say 80 and now it's 70, this is bad.
Find out why, look at your hubs, they affect your score, look at your community work on hubpages. Does it seem like you are just there? The more you do positively on hubpages the better. Do you help others? This is good as well. Same goes for your hubs, a quick drop from say 90 to 60 is bad, but there are many reasons for this, not enough traffic or comments or not enough done by you. So be advised, work hard and you shouldn't see any big drops, but don't worry if it does go up and down a bit.
Understand the power of networking and blogs: This is big while you can't over promote your hubs on any hubs, there is a way you can "over" promote your hubs. Go to Stumble Upon, Digg and all the other networking sites. Tell people about on your blogs, all of them. Add a link to Facebook and on your website. Anything to get back links and traffic. I also like to post a blog about a hub I've written and add the link there, so that my blog traffic will go to hubpages, take the time to add hubs of others, and tell them you've done an article/post about it on their hubs, most people will like good reviews other than on hubpages. this is powerful as it harnesses the idea of search engines and links and with some help from others it creates traffic to various hubs.
Understanding the Art of Publishing: This is something I know no one wants to hear but here it is. You are a published author and your hub is published works and sometimes, published material doesn't get much traffic even in the publishing industry. Sometimes it's a loss, but sometimes it's worth having that published hub up just so you can say, I don't have any traffic, but at least I'm published. Okay, not a great consolation but it is some, and you are a reader and you did try everything to get this hub published, and professional. So well done.
There you have it, five things to remember when you say "I have a problem." Really it's okay when you write and get traffic or even when you don't. Work on promotion and getting your name out there and you should see some traffic improvements to your hubs. Good luck and enjoy!

Thank you so much for the article! Your words of encouragement worked on me. And I'm going to try out some of your advice.
Have a nice day!
Recently signed up to hubpages and wrote six hubs (about three weeks ago). Did some backlinks on other sites but still no google traffic at all and a PR rank of zero. Absolutely no traffic at all for the six hubs today. Am thinking of not doing any more until I see some signs of progress. Made about a dollar in clicks. I was hoping for better...
I am glad I finally got the chance to read this helpful hub, thanks so much for sharing this info. I am now a follower!!
I'm glad you made this. I'm new and I'm trying to get a feel for everything.
Thanks for the helpful tips.
BTW Rebecca, I found this article through your promotional blurb on shetoldmeso, which demonstrates the validity of your suggestions on self promotion. It works!
Great article Rebecca E. You can't get clicks if you don't get visitors. But those visitors need to be readers, so the better the article is constructed, the better the chance of somebody spotting an ad and acting!
Thank you again for writing these hubs,.. I learn a lot from them, you have definately helped out many of us. High Five Rebecca E !!!
Oh my so sorry Rebecca I didn't mean not I meant great read, not dry. Guess I was typing to fast. I just reread my comment so very sorry that is not what I meant.
Great article! You really have some very helpful content and I wanted to thank you for that!
I've just started and was very pleased to discover your hub today. Quite helpful and informative for a new hubber. Thanks so much!
Thanks for all your great advice and encouragement!
As always, valuable information. I've actually been discovering Stumbleupon a little bit, and it's interesting to see other interesting blogs or hubs and be able to comment and leave a link back.
I've seen an increase in traffic relative to my own participation across the web.
Thank you, Rebecca. You are always so helpful and are always so encouraging to others. I liked the idea of linking a hub to your email address. I do have accounts with Digg, Facebook, and Blogger, but have been focusing all of my energy here at HP. EzineArticles is another place that I've been meaning to write more articles for (I've only written two articles there).
Thanks again for all of the great advice, Rebecca! I expected nothing less!
Is it possible to Change display My name in Hubpages?.
Now it is displaying long name.
Plz give the links of hubs with the information of do's and dont's which you have created.
i know that will be useful for me.
Now i am working as a project manager in Ecobliss Netherlands
Department "GUI Design & Development"
Thanks for giving instant reply.
Here i am new,
I like your hub b'coz i got perfect information.
is it possible to you to create one more hub with a title "do's & don't's in hubpages" ?.
Thanks in advance.
Very encouraging Hub, thank you.
We so agree with your views on professionalism! Pat is so pedantic that she spells words out in full when she sends text messages. Tricia teaches Pilates and always makes sure that she looks good - hair, nails etc as she believes in the whole package. We try to apply that philosophy to our internet work.
thanks for the tips another great hub form my favorite writer/hubber. but i have a question do you make money when people click on your google ads or does someone have to buy something off google for you to make money.
Thanks Rebecca! I have been writing Hubs for over 6 months and I have experienced a lack of traffic & followers. What began as a hobby when I was laid off from my job, turned into a drive and desire to make some money out here!
Thanks for your information! You have pointed out many useful ideas and tools and I will begin to implement them immediately! I know that it will take a little time as all good things do. I'll let you know how I make out!
Hi, Rebecca, Your hubs always have lots of information - I like your writing style. You mention writing on guest blogs, I was wondering how you became a writer on guest blogs? Thanks!
Yes of course. Feel free to do it. :)
Sometimes information can be very dry. Yours is not a great read and thanks for the info.
Ok then, I'll go on positively commenting the old way. :):):)
Forgive me if I'll repeat myself, I'll try to improve my vocabulary. Lol.
Great pointers and now, I need to try to create an account on Stumble upon and Digg. Thanks for sharing your secrets.
Rebecca E I got some new points from this hub. Most I already do, but I never thought of adding the hubs of others on my blog, so now I'll do that. Thanks for the good advice.
Thanks for these important tips. I'm working hard but not earning much so far. I've got to use more key words and improve saturation and add links.
I'm with you on the shorthand ban. If we wish to be considered as authors and writers then we should write real words, not buzz words and abbreviations. LOL (!) And invest in a good dictionary. I just had to look up a word to make this comment! Good information here Rebecca E.
More great stuff from you! I think if you look at the overall view, it is about a web within a web. Be active in the community and the community will reward you. Like Karma.. what goes around comes around.

Becca...Wow! You are always right on the money(so to speak)I always find a little detail here and there that helps me make adjustments. Something is true: You have helped me to keep on writing, fighting and publishing! And that`s precisely what IS
important!
Thanks for sharing such useful information!
May this goodness come back to you a million fold!!
Warm regards,
Mystique
Thanks for this motivation and guidance that is much needed. I am gearing up to the challenge of a blog but haven't figured out a topic yet.
Hi Rebecca,
This look like excellent information and hopefully it will help me out.Good luck to you and thanks again!!
Marlene
I just got started on HubPages and found your hubs right away. I'm glad I came to the right place to learn how to capitalize on my efforts. Thanks for showing me the way.
@Ileane
I get good traffic and I have done so with your wonderful guidance...Just so you know I still haven't heard back on the appeal to google. It's okay though because I have been offered a chance to help in starting an online magazine. I will try and give it a go. I have nothing to lose.
Thanks for remembering me from all the followers that you have it makes me feel really good. You are very kind and considerate........Tammy
Good hub, Rebecca, with losts of helpful information. Thanks.
Thanks Rebecca, it's thanks to people like that help us newbies
Thank you for the emphasis on what should be routine. I am probably as much at fault as the next. I need time but you provide the motivation. Thanks again.
Thank you, Rebecca, for such an interesting and informative hubs. I only started and need all the help I can get.
I discovered Hubmetrics the other day and it showed Incoming link with one star, even I have not put a link on it? Also is there a limit I can put a incoming link? The other is Potention Payment with three or four stars?
I took me six months to discover Hubmetric. At least I am a bit furher now. - one day I will discover America hahaha
Rebecca, since I'm beginning to repeat myself on every new hub you write could we agree on some symbols to mean: well written hub, very interesting, extremely useful, something that everyone should read especially newbies and things like that?
And yes, this is true for this hub too, great article. :)
Thanks Rebecca E for this hub. You have some very practical hints, any one of which should help increase traffic!
