Make Money Online?! Me!!? Ten Points To Ponder... Before Jumping In
68I want to Make Money Online
When a person publishes on hubpages, for whatever reason, deep down they always want to make something for what they publish. Normally what most want is to make money online, They want to see traffic, and would like to get it sooner or later. What they will really want to say is that they want OPT and OPM (other people's time... and money) but they for get that they are now running a business.
Hubpages is a business, and they work in partnership with the writers of hubs- and everyone wants to make money with their work. They will use the Google AdSense Affiliate Program and tell us how the ad impressions are split between the hub writer and them. 60% of ad impressions go to the writer of a hub and 40% of ad impressions go to hubpages. Which means you have to make a good impression as often as you can. Now, they are beginning to offer a Hubpages Ads Programs, where you are payed based partly upon impressions others make on your hubs.
It a business, but some people expect that there is a Midas touch to all of this money that can be made online. The Internet is like the real world some make money and some don't. The ten "big" points to ponder...
Google, AdSense, and Links, and Google Adwords
Google AdWords and Google AdSense:These two program compliment each other, while one provides the ads for the other, the other needs the traffic to see these ads. Google understands that this is a big business, and works hard to make itself money. The key to both AdWords and AdSense is what sort of content you are publishing online.
So it's a cycle, but they both use keywords based on content to add links. Google and other sites love links between and to hubs that you have written and these are the foundation to every business. The key to making money with Google AdSense is to look into increasing traffic to your website.
Links and SEO: There are many ways to drive traffic but some people focus on one type of traffic more than others, and that type is search engine traffic. SEO (search engine optimization) in this case is a vital part to getting traffic to your hub or blog and make money online. Still the most basic idea for SEO is the same as anywhere else: a good keyword will make it easier for google and other search engines to find you, and if you "optimize" your work, then there is even more potential to making money.
Adding about five links to your blogs and hubs your chances of being found will increase. Keep in mind that with links there are such things as Social Networking sites that can help you in terms of links, and a better SEO. Any link is a good link, but again some links are better than other to make you money. The key is to diversify where you are placing your links, as increasing traffic from various domains will help build your Search Engine ranking.

A Business Plan? ME? To Make Money yes you need one!
In This Business Have a Plan: Yes making money online is a business, and we all love to make some money, for different reasons, and in different ways. for the most part, people will come and put up a website or a blog and a hub and then forget about it, but the successful ones work at a plan they have. They know that some days money is harder to get than others, but they still go with the plan they began with. You wouldn't say go and publish a book without a plan would you? Then why do most people try to make money online without a plan for their business?
They work on keyword research and they spend hours on building traffic to their many websites. (for the purpose of this hub, a website is a hub.) the more of plan you have going into building your hubs the more aware of where you are making money and where you can increase earnings you will be.
Have a Personal Goal: Knowing the percentages of people making money online through amazon, google AdSense, and eBay, set a personal goal for your own work. For example it could be writing 100 hubs, and linking them properly, or making a google payout every other month. Set a time frame, and then publish a hub and begin.
A personal goal does not need to be told to others, but it should be something you need to work to get and be proud of. I believe that without a personal goal you won't make money, and you won't push yourself to do better. Set this goal high enough that it is a challenge but of course not to high at the beginning.
A key to personal goals is that it should be realistic. In other words you will not make one million dollars a year in the first year. You will not make money with "dating" websites, as the niche for those is overly saturated. You goal needs to be based partly on how much you are willing to work on your business and your websites.
Read A book or two On blogging and google:One of the books I always refer back to when I need to think and set a new goal, is pro blogger. Why this book, because the authors are successful, and they have been around the blogging world for a while. Read a book on google, I have several books about google and each one might have a different point of view, but the theme is that it takes time to have a successful business on google and in blogging. Money is there but it is time that people need to get it.
Understand Google Ads and AdSense:This the the AdSense ad trap, as I like to call it, it is the law of traffic at its finest, some writers of blogs and hubs put google AdSense on every blog and hub and this isn't a great idea, why because you "lose" something with google, the less traffic on a blog or hub means that the ads google will put on them are "worth-less" it is the same with websites, you can put google AdSense on every page, but it won't help you in the long run. it might even make you less money. So if you see that some hubs simple don't get traffic fix them up, and before deleting them, change the Google AdSense setting to low or none ( this is found under edit). This might help. In this case less is more to google.
Better still do some keyword research and looking into Google Analytics to get an idea of where to improve often, it is the choice of the content you are writing, and the words int hat content which you are choosing.
Content and Keywords:This is simple write the content and then figure out the best keywords. On hubpages, they make it simple, they give you tag suggestions. (which are known as keywords) These are suggestions that hubpages gives you based on the number time you use a certain word. I know some will say to do keywords first but if you are having trouble go back and read your content is it something that people can read and relate to? Are there keywords people will think of? Do you use a keyword more than once? (for example on some hubs they have a tag but it is used once in a hub longer than mine... it won't help them) You content is where you get your keywords, not the other way around. Use it wisely.
Why Do you want to make money online?: Is it to get some extra funds for yourself? Is it because you want to write full time? This will set your focus. I say this because some simply have no plan, and they hope that they will make money online through amazon or eBay or google AdSense, and when that doesn't happen the complaints begin. I am almost certain that they have never asked why do they want to make money online? If they know why it is really easy to focus on the goals you've set.
Reading and Commenting on Others Hubs:This is a basic fact of a Internet life. There are commenter, and writers and lurkers. You'll see this by the traffic you get in a 24 hour period. Some people will come and read a hub quickly, and others will read it word for word and still others will read it and comment on it. If you comment on other people's hubs, the best way to go about it is to make a good comment and establish a reading relationship with the writer of a hub. I am sure you've probably all read the comment about a rubber chicken farm between me and GhostWhisper77 and Unchained Grace, if you follow the three of us there is a joke going on. By the way I've bought a prize rubber chicken, and it will make me more money than that Colonel guy. by commenting on other hubs, you can establish yourself and the better the comment the more likely others will go to your hubs to see what you have to say, and maybe you'll get some money.
Have a Goal but be Realistic:The problem is that everyone would love to make a million dollars and never ever have to worry about money ever again, but that is not the way this business works. It is not the way hubpages works or even google. So have your dreams but know that it takes time to establish yourself, and to make money, but each month is a new month. Still if you publish only one hub there is less of chance to make money, but still if you publish 1000 hubs in 2 months there is still a good chance you won't make money in the long run, so slow and steady.
What Will You Ponder

Why Ten?
There ten points to ponder for you and for your hubs. I have not mentioned social networking or too much on linking, as these are important to getting traffic, and they might make you money. The point is that these are things that while it gives you traffic, it is still hard to make money without a lot of work. Still, if you don't have a goal or set down a plan to make money, you probably won't or you won't be able to sustain your success for long.
You need time and content and luck but knowing a bit about SEO, google and Keywords are vital if you want to continue your success. And you will be saying: Make Money Online?? Me? Why of course I can.
To your success.

You have given me plenty to think about.
nice hub very informing
I always love reading yer hubs, I learn from each one !
You really are the Guru everyone says you are! This was such a helpful hub. Full of answers to questions I've had in my head since I joined a couple of days ago - well lets be honest the questions have been there for ages! - its only now I'm getting courageous enough to test the waters. I'm going to try today to figure out some of the things you suggest, make changes and committ to following you for all the best insider knowledge. Thanks for taking the time to want the best for all of us. Impressive!! :)
Rebecca, very good advice. I keep reading about making money online but so far doesn’t seems that I’m learning anything. Lol…Thanks for another good hub.
Thanks for this hub, Rebecca. I think the advice of "slow but steady" is sound. As you may notice I'm not pouring out hubs every twenty-two hours. Though some fellow hubbers are and more power to them.
Rebecca, thanks always for that little push to keep on. You're right, it does take a lot of time and effort, and it sure isn't easy to make money. I'm slowing starting to learn and get better at that (even though it's not my number one goal) with a lot of help from you.
Thanks again Rebecca - slow and steady is my plan. I would be happy to reach a goal of a $200 or $300/month passive income within a couple of years. I think I can, I think I can....
