A Time Line On To Earn Money How Long Does IT Take To Make Money Online (With Hubpages ect.)
75Money Timeline on Writing Websites
Hubpages and other online writing sites are a business, and time and money are two things that initially seems interrelated until you get into the get rich quick ideas or websites. What you need is a plan a time line and the expectation that at some point if you are making money and want to make more-- you'll have to do something else.
A good start to making money is understanding how long it can take to do this. It is also an understanding of what you can and can not do with the Google AdSense program-- which is the main program that people make money with. This takes time and energy-- but in the long term if you know what you need to do you will improve your earnings.
So I'll go through a bit of a time line which will help you in terms of how much money you can expect realistically-- using hubpages and the Google AdSense affiliate program. Sorry, no get rich quick I don't have a magic wand for that!
Money Fast: get Rich Quick?
The I am Totally new and Need Money Fast Stage: This I would say is the hardest stage of them all, it's not really limited to a time line, but more of a mind set. This can be only a few days, or many months or even years.
The first part will only last about say three months, after which most experienced people will lose patience with the how do you make money on hubpages or show me the money or writing poor quality hubs. In other words, if you go to the answer section and you answer is not "answered" you've been asking to many of the same questions and not liking the answer.
The need money fast stage is harder to quantify, it's similar to the get rich quick idea. Face it we all need money. Some are more vocal about it than others. Nobody will get rich quick, and money is something you earn with time and effort.
So, with this one, This is the stage you need to get out of the fastest. Be realistic: Google AdSense, ( which is most often quoted) publishers have an average chance of 1 in 4 to make a payout per month.
The next stage:
Make Hubs, and the Learning Curve of the Hubpages Business: This is where the learning curve hits the stride, people begin to look at others hubs, and to try to mentally figure out what made their hubs so successful. They begin to ask the question of "if you are writing this can it make money?"
For some the answer is easy, yes they make money and while it's not "big time" money from say, Google AdSense or Amazon or eBay, it is enough. (For the record, yes I do make some money through hubpages, but I have been here a while) For others they can say they've been here for... forever and hardly make a dime, but that isn't what they are here for.
Now depending on the topics you write, it can take anywhere from 2 months to get your first payout to more than a year. It is the topic which matter, along with links and hub scores, so the higher the hub score the more likely you'll get traffic and the more likely you'll make money online on a regular basis.
Of course this means: you'll need to learn a bit of Social Networking, Keywords, Linking, SEO and Google, and the other affiliate programs, the money making business part...
Which brings you to the next stage.

Blogging and Keywords
Time Line... The Growth of My Hubs and My Knowledge:This is the stage where you begin to think in terms of "me and others" you love the the topics you write on, and you've edited them and had someone else to look them over, so this is a big bonus.
But now, you focus on increasing the one thing you'd like to have: money.
So, you begin to look for people on hubpages who talk about this topic. You learn about SEO, and about keywords and content, and you realize your knowledge on the subject isn't so great. So this is when you decide to learn.
You get the basics from many others who have been there and done that. You use Social Networking sites, and get traffic from them. You edit your older hubs to make them more search engine friendly ( That's really what SEO is all about!) You learn what works and what doesn't work, and this stage can last for anywhere between two upwards of one year.
Remember that for me, I have been in the online world since 2006 and have had a blog up and running since July 2008. So a lot of my learning curve was found there. I Learned more about Google when I set up and AdWords account than anything else.... ( My Advice on Google AdWords, the keyword idea section is great, so it is something to look at. I admit I didn't do so well with the rest of it.. lost more money then i made... so there you go: lesson if you want to get rich quick it's not going to happen.) Still you begin to increase traffic and that is a big help.
Then The next Satge...
Money and Trafffic
The Final Stage... Money begins to come on a more regular basis, but you're loving writing so much that the money is a bonus: Now I am at this stage, money is a bonus, my followers are more fun, I can't thank them enough. it matters in a way I make some money, after all that is why I write.
But in the grand scheme of things I as lo know how much I've learned about myself is a far better gift than anything money could buy. (Okay if I get $100 in one day I'm not going to complain....) but I understand that there are no secret get rich quick schemes, there is a community of people on hubpages and on the social networking sites and in other places.
Traffic to my hubs is up, and the comments are always fun to read, but also, the time spent on writing my hubs is not as "high" as it was. My learning curve no consists of reading the best of the best to learn more. It is all about increasing traffic and improvng your hubs.
So, once you've learned about traffic and keywords and the value of links, you will see money will come your way. Now, I am in no way suggesting that in this business it is anything but fast, but $3.33 a day will give you a monthly payout.) You're enjoying the social networking aspect and use the keywords there well, and writing and making money are just plain fun.
What Is Your Yearly Goal?
See results without votingThe Final Comment: I would say it will take longer to make money on hubapges if you don't want to learn and simply focus on how fast you can make big money. Even with say ezine articles or blogs it takes time to establish yourself. So it really depends on how much learning you want to do, you will make money and honestly sometimes it won't take long, but that's with a bit of luck, and some good followers.
Now here are a few points and some hub writers who you should read:
Publish good quality good content hubs. ( If you are wondering who try relache, or lorlie6 or even better dohn121 or duchess O'blunt)
Never be afraid to edit a hub title, it will help you in the end. ( Lizze, and many others)
Learn things about Keywords and SEO from people who know about it and can make it easy for you. (Mark Knowles, My Webs, Sunforged)
Have a wonderful positive spirit. (creativeone59, hello hello, Violet Sun, Lyricsingray, Juneaukid, hypnodude, Pamela99 )
Be a mentor to others and want to help them. (Mike Lickteig, Unchained Grace, Fastfreata, Ghost Whisper77, RSMSN, drbj)
Help Others (tonymac04, Ann Nonymous, Skye2day, one2get2no,)
Willing to learn (nearbuy store, shelia b., Art4Life, Gaming guru and so many many others.)
Keep publishing good quality hubs, and work at it and you will find it really didn't take long to make the money you've dreamed of!
To your success!

I was excited when I found HP because I love to write and it gives me a venue for sharing my writing. I love the idea of other people finding my hubs when they're searching for specific information because I'm always grateful when I find answers to my questions online. I'd love to make enough money to ever made a withdrawal, but I choose to write about topics I love, not just what is popular, so I don't know how realistic that goal is. As long as I'm proud of my hubs, that's good enough for me! I wite copy for other people on other websites to make quick cash. Hub time is me time =)
Nice article. Many people starting out online have a dream of becoming rich, or at least making lots of money, in a short period of time. It doesn't work like that however, what you need to succeed is an idea, a plan, and a good deal of patience and persistence to work the plan.
Great hub,I am new to hubpages, Hope i lean it quickly
Nice hub and so very true - a good one to send the newbies from the forums to really it is :)
But, to make money in online-business is realy hard. Because you must be a good seo and webdesigner and you need realy many time for that.
this is really an informative hub. thanks for this
Sweet hub. I need to remember that each hub is like a seed. It takes care and nurturing to grow. You need to be patient if you want it to eventually feed you.
Thank you for this great hub with so much information.
Thanks for the information I am trying to get there Im writing as many hubs as possible they are getting pretty good traffic so Im perservering. Thanks.
Nice hub! Thank you for the great info. I'm new to this and hubs like this are well appreciated. Keep up the intriguing hubs.
I have found that you need to broaden your horizons as well. While Hubpages is an awesome site, you should branch out and try some others ALSO. Get a mix of them going, and do not forget to do some SEO work also on your pages you create. Even simple social bookmarking helps to drive traffic over time.
agreed, always learning, thanks for the wisdom!
Very nice hub. I'm learning so much from you and many others. Thanks for providing a wealth of information for us new comers.
What a great hub. Theres some great advice to be taken away from this. Thanks for all the great links
Informative and made sense out of it all:)
I believe in Hubpages, and it's a fair site with lots of members not selfish in imparting knowledge. In time, most of us will be successful. Thanks for this hub.
Hi Rebecca thanks for sharing, it is just a week since I join hubpages & I'm still learning.
Everytime I read you hubs I learn something new. Bookmarked, printed rated and stumbled!!!!!

I got mentioned in a hub :) yuppy thanks for all your help rebecca
Terrific hub that all newbies must read. Writing Hubs is enjoyable and you have the freedom to write about any personal topic, and share. So you can let your internal combustion propel you to write hubs, and maybe receive helpful, caring comments. This is a great site.
This hub inspiring us. I agree with you. Traffic is the best, I had proof that. And I am proud being a member of hubpages. Thank you very much
two thumbs up which means I'll have to come back later to rate it up once more :)
I feel very honored to have been mentioned here, thank you very much Rebecca. I've already told you that you are one of the biggest help and mentor for people who wants to know the tricks of the trade, and that hubbers can learn a lot from your hubs. I did. And as usual I like a lot your honest way of talking about money and earnings.
Rated and stumbled. :):):)
Once again time is the biggest obstacle I must overcome! Thanks for this great info packed hub of a reminder, Rebecca!
I think your hubs keep getting better! Thumbs up :)
You are a great mentor! Excellent info yet again.
Amber
Rebecca, I just adore your hubs and your attitude toward writing. Thank you so much!
Another good Hub - congratulations!
We think that goals are a good idea. Last year Tricia managed to keep her income from Pilates level (in a recession!) by working towards that goal.
This year we want to 1. grow Tricia's Pilates business, 2. Grow viewer numbers and income on our own website by 50% over 2009 and 3. publish Hubs with a score of 85 or above.
We use Hubs as a way to measure the quality of our writing. We have found that most of the time if quality is good, income will follow. (N.B. most of the time!).
Rebecca, you are one of the few who can write time after time about online money-making strategies and still offer new and interesting thoughts to ponder each and every time.
That's remarkable.
Good advice as usual Rebecca. Thank You.
Great hub. New here and open to know how things work. Now I have a goal. Thanks.
Very good hub. I like reading your hubs as they help to give me the will to keep trying to improve and learn more. I am thinking the most about the quality of my hubs. Thanks for all your help.
If there's ever a HubPages textbook, you're my first choice to write it. I've said it before (and I'll say it again, I guess...), but your advice is of value to me because you see things so clearly and offer advice in a readable, easily understood way. I never read your hubs and say, "Huh? What did she say?"
I also offer my thanks for mentioning me in your list of hubbers to read. You are very gracious, and I am appreciative.
Mike
Thank you for your awesome advice. I am pleased and honoured that you mentioned me and think so highly of me. Thank you Rebecca.
Once again I am reminded why I am following you. Thanks! My husband is only into the first stage so it will take a while to get his support, but I am encouraged that I am on the way while enjoying every moment.
Your 'thumbs up' was unexpected, Rebecca! You are one of my most admired hubbers-your hubs are always top notch.
Great Hub - I've learned so much lately and a lot of it from you. Thanks.
Thanks again Rebecca E, I want to do better hubs, and learn how to link, and a lot of other things dealing with hubpages. This was another great hub, thank you for sharing. creativeone59
Rebecca: You are a fast learner and have provided a wealth of hubs with very practical and wise tips! As for making money, I wrote in an older hub on finding alternate ways of earning income after a job loss, that making money with a business takes time and patience. Best to think in terms of a monthly salary and not a get rich quick scheme. My mate and I own a health website which we purchased from my sis, (which is listed in my profile) and the business is about 10 years old; it makes decent annual sales but we had a drop last year because of the economy and inventory expenses, but its a solid business, yet it took years for it to be profitable. Patience does pay off with a venture or goal, while we do other things for income!
Thanks for your mentioning me. :)
My dearest Becca...
I truly liked this one! It is a good reminder, an upper not a downer. It restores my confidence in working hard! You`ve done it again! You are getting pretty acute at giving sound advices.
Thumbs up! Rated and Stumbled!
warmest regards and blessings,
Al
As always, a hub worth reading!
After my last comment, I pretty much have laid out a plan that looks for earning of any significance in a year. Also, I've begun to branch out from my initial category a bit. I'm going to be jumping into some different areas I am intimately familiar with. Perhaps the category I write in was not ever meant to be the moneymaker, though there are much different benefits there.
Hey, it might even do me some good to hit some different ground for a bit.

Natashalh-- then never ever give up! write what you love and really publish what you know and that is how you see success long term, if you plan on focusing on that part then money is always secondary.
