Make Money: I'm Getting Paid by Google AdSense and Other Affiliate Programs
74I Don't Understand Google AdSense
This is another question about making money with Google AdSense affiliate program and the other affiliate programs. It is a question of how and where you get paid with Google AdSense-- as in how long can it really take you. This is an online business so there are things you need to know-- payments is one of them.
How you get paid and where you get paid for your hubs is one of them, this is about making money online after all. There is no "Google AdSense code" or "Amazon Affiliate Codes" to know just where and how you get payed-- in other words, if you are looking for how to put in your codes to make money, this will be of interest, but won't help.
You need to have a certain level of money in your account to be paid for by Google or by amazon. Only after getting to that payment point will you in fact "make money." It is sometimes harder to get paid by amazon than it is Google, but often like all business work long and hard enough and you will see success.
It is simple, but not if you don't know, it is all about business know-how.
What Is the First thing I NEED?:I do read the request here on hubpages, and I have noticed something rather, to me at least, amusing/alarming. When I read the questions on how to get payed by Google AdSense or Amazon or eBay, I read the comment after the question.
Some will comment they have set up a profile and they aren't making money. "Not a cent, I signed up to hubpages put up a profile and am not making any money. Why is that!"
Okay, you think that. It still won't make you money
Now that I got that out of my system... you need hubs to make money, and you need credibility. This means about 100 or so interlinked hubs and hard work. I usually suggest that at least for one month you write 30 hubs or one per day. This usually gets people coming.
This should never be done one the first month, establish your presence here and get some hubs over a hub score of 80. Also get your personal hub score above 75. If you can't do that, well you aren't going to make money.
If you don't have a hub, go on write one.
Next Understand the rules:Nine times out of ten I can say that the reason you aren't making money is that you aren't following the rules or more to the point, you don't understand them.
For example with Google, Never Ever Ever click on one of your ads, don't even think it, don't do it, it will get you banned... end of story. I have heard of maybe ONE person get back on for doing that... out of thousands.
Also you only make money certain way. Google: When someone clicks on your ads, the more they do the more, it seems, you will make. But that is up to them ( For example if someone clicks on an ad and then leaves right away it won't make as much money than if a person was to say sign up for something. This is the only explanation I think is logical, but then again I might be dead wrong.!)
Same with amazon, people can click on your books or whatever you offer and you won't make a dime, until it is shipped to the person and the accept the items. Of course if they return it you are short money.
If you don't understand that hubpages doesn't pay you that is another good thing. Some people make money by publishing hubs and some don't. Some subjects make money and some don't. (Guess what? Make Money hubs don't... I make more money when I do a writing hub, so there you go.)
Not knowing Traffic: When I say traffic, I mean visitors. Now is a great time to learn about traffic sources. You can get a lot of traffic and make zero dollars. And you wonder why that is the case.
It could be the type of traffic you are getting. I use traffic sources on hubpages, but also Google Analytics to figure this theory out. So my belief is that Search Engine traffic is the golden traffic, this means getting search engine traffic is of value to your writing.
So that means a bit of learning about the business of "Internet" I would grab a book or three about SEO, and learn about it. Then I would begin to link my hubs. I would do this in three or four ways: Add links to my other hubs, and a few of my blogs, and also on sites such as RedGage.
Then I would interlink Between say e-zinearticles and then also with guest posts I do. of course each link is a link and that looks better with SEO, but again there is a good link and a bad link. Get a lot of good links and you are on your way.
That is great so when will get payed?: When you get to the payment threshold each affiliate program has for their business.
Google is the one everyone talks about and that is $100 for a payout. That can be quick and that can take time. Be prepared. Google tells you exactly when you get a payment in their Terms of service. If you haven't done so please go and read the Terms of Service.
This is a business so the time line terms of making money depends on the topics you write on but also where you get your traffic, and how people respond to your writing. Yes, this is a business, but it is also a bit of luck.
When I Get Paid...

So Does that Mean I should go with trends, They seem to make money for others?:
No be yourself, you will see success in your own good time. Set personal goals and enjoy your writing and your business. In fact personal goals such as learning about SEO or linking between hubs is vital but again it is up to you to define success.
See if you define success as say writing and linking to a hub with 4 links from other sites, then this is something you can do. If you define success as making $100 per month from Google, then you will have to work harder to get there. Again following trends is one thing, but working hard to get your goals is another.
Some will get paid in months, whereas for others it will take years. Some make money after many attempts and then they can say that they got paid. It does matter the topic you write on, but at the same time, it also matters how much effort you put into your work. Social networking is a must, but so is keyword research and SEO. It all works together. It also helps if you spend time writing quality hubs.
A bit of luck and a bit of time, and you'll see a payout. Keep writing.
To your success.

Great hub. I'm almost there with a payout, but I treat my writing very much as a business. Thanks for the useful info.
This is my first week on hub pages and I so appreciate this hub. I don't see this as a get rich business but have already gotten some credits with AdSense. To think that my writing could generate any income at all is so encouraging. Thank you for helping me know a little bit more about improving my hubs.
lol...great hub! I love that people think they join and they'll make money without doing anything. Yup...umm.of course you will, as soon as that dinner cooks itself too.
Currently going through an adsense lull that makes me ready to consider conspiracy theories, but I am confident it will right itself. I'm not ready to panic yet. It is indeed a process that takes time.
Thanks again for all your work educating us!
