Writing 101: Good, No, I Did Not Loose My Mind I Just Write, now Can I At Least I Don't want to Make Up For Lost Time...

Publishing and Writing and Improve My Writing
As the title suggests no I didn't lose my mind I just write. It's a quip that I say to people who ask me why I write. Face it, everyone know I'm nuts, there is no doubt about that, but again a couple of hundred people are not wrong either.
So, I'll just write, and that for me is very simple. Simple and easy, well okay not simple just, no not even easy. I believe that I should simply write and that is the way my writing improves. So, in the end it does become easy and simple.
I suspect that there is a dedication to writing and more importantly a commitment to improving my writing so that I will have a published book. What would make me a better writer? There are many things I can do to make myself a better writer, but of course, let's take one thing at a time. Otherwise I would lose my mind, or prove people correct. (Some people at least.)
Reading Books: I suppose this one wouldn't have any bearings on my writing save for a small quirk I have. I read some of my favorite books out loud and make a point of rereading my books. I read pretty much anything, but since I write narrative non-fiction as a rule i do read non-fiction. Dull I know, but it does improve my writing.
Dedication to My Writing: This is a biggie, so what if I'm wanting to go see a movie, I am sure that people will review it and I'll know the plot in a minute or three. Same a dinners out, it save money, and as a bonus it means that my advances can go for other things. I write at least 500-700 words a day, with breaks in between. It's so important to do that since you can't get a good thing going without some work done on it. I have to be dedicated to my writing.
Writing with Purpose:Why Am I writing in the first place? I know to make some money, and garner some acclaim to my writing, but still why am I writing? See if I don't write with purpose, then my writing doesn't have any meaning to me and we all know how that will turn out. Not so good since people need to have a reason to read. The passion and the purpose that any writer puts into their work is a valuable part of the reading experience.
Wait... there is more!
What's Most Important to Your Writing?
See results without votingThe Last part is a more of your own point of view. I love to write, as you can plainly see on hub pages. The last one is the subject of money and i could go on, but it's very simple:
Making Regular Income: It's not easy to begin with to have a regular stream of income, but it's not impossible, still until you have something going and the ball is rolling don't quit your day job, if you have hubs, or lens, or blogs, or a lot of online writing, be prepared for a roller coaster ride, money might flow fast or slow, so write write and write some more.
So what's regular income? it depends on you, for some 100 dollars a month is regular enough for them, for others it's more, for some they want to have two or three books out, and the advances count for the year, so that they have a good income for a full year, others break it down for a monthly basis. This is of course something I thought through a lot.
I suppose that is why people don't think I'm nuts they know I just write. Which is exactly what I do. On hub pages and on my blogs. I just write.

Another great inspirational hub, and I wish I had the time to get to the stages a lot of people are at here. I think I spend to much time reading, when not working, rather than writing on the net, need to find a balance. Thank you for this hub.
I always say that I'm crazy or nuts. If you're not a writer you don't understand that, but if you are, you do. Meaning, most writers, in my experiences so far, have shown that they have wild characteristics. Many are anxious most of the time because true writers "live" to write. They're eccentric and messy too. I have all of these characteristics and many more...but you and I are NOT nuts, we're writers:) lol
Does that make sense? I love being a wacky writer. I don't act wacky in public, but my personality is a writer and writing takes creativity and flair. If some want to call that nuts, let them.
Best wishes to you and happy writing! Hey, if you want to write a book you don't have to stay home, even a sentence a day is better than an empty page! I'm sticking to that advice that I read recently:) Hope it helps. Hugs
I'm just learning to write, so I haven't reached the stage that you describe yet. I'm nowhere near good enough to consider writing for money, so pleasure is all that I earn from my writing. Very good hub.
I'll be the first to say I've lost my mind for sure! Thanks for the hub on writing.
Good points you shared. To be disciplined to write everyday is something I fell into journaling. Now with these hub pages, it seems it is a must. Hubbing is a good challenge. Thank you for clarifying points of writing:)
Loved the hub. I know exactly what you mean about having to write. And having to read. I am at the stage where I feel that mentally and emotionally I am ready to write full time. However my wife and kids still think that eating is a pretty neat idea. So I keep plugging away and hoping and working towards next year. I have been aiming at the nd of next year to give up the dayjob, but of course if someone out there wants to pay me gazillions to do very little I'll consider it tomorrow. :)
Brilliant hub.
I wish to add that's hard sometimes to explain that your wrk it's writing. But when you are doing it, you know how it can be tiring. You are usually keeping your attention on all the day, in every day of the week. You can work from everywhere in any time, so you have less occasion to avoid working and you don't have to go in an office, if you are not so lucky to have one. So being at home or somewhere when somebody that you know meets you, it will be pretty long to clarify that you are not just sitting and surfing on the Internet....and at the end of the day, whe haven't any trade union! ;)
I agree with what you wrote. I have a regular income from my daily writing articles and I noticed that since I'm living writing I'm writing less. Or at least I have this impression. Maybe it's because I improved the quality of my tests, but it's also because I'm writing only for job, studies and professional reason. Even my blog it's meant to be an important presentation of my writing skills. I wish to find time to invent short stories like when I was just a student and I spent my trips by bus or train writing stories, without any particular reason but to follow a need. Maybe I have to save a little time every day from the "write quickly and pubblish immedeately" mechanism. Thank you for your smart hub, anyway.
It has been a very long time since I have seen someone else sum up what was in my heart so completely...this is my favorite hub yet...THANK YOU!
Hey Rebecca, if being nuts lets you do what you love and love what you do, I'm right there with you (and yeas I do know you are kidding).
Another good Hub my friend. Keep em coming!
Well, I really don't know you at all, but just learning. I hope you are and will be okay though. I do hope your joking .
I enjoy writing for many reasons for emotional peace, and many factors. Creative writing for me is many factors. I did creative writing for years without a cent, so honestly yes it would be nice to get paid for completing a work that yea I still will do for free. Thank-you very much for your insights they are good.
