Can You Make Money 101: Of Money, Logic and Spock: Is This Good Moneylogic

I love some questions, and this one caught my eye: The writer of said question wrote something along the lines of if they write 50 hubs and get $1 a day from that, logically would this mean that by writing 5000 they would make $100 per day. Well, I suppose one can't argue with logic. Money however is a different matter.  This is a business where the business minded will survive and make money with Google AdSense and other affiliate programs.  But does logic enter into the quality versus quantity thing?

In this case the question is sound. If you follow the logic that they are asking, by writing online on hub pages, and you write at a steady clip, chances are you will make money. From the many answers, yes you can make money online, but...

Yes I know there is always a but!

Money doesn't come fast or easy, and it doesn't come all the time, but when it does it does. So, Let's go through this like a Vulcan would.and pretend to be Spock. (For those who love Star Trek, you can decide which Spock you want to be....) logic and money... fascinating combination.

If A+ B = C Then logically....
If A+ B = C Then logically....

Writing Quality Content... One Fine Hub at a time?

I look at it this way, If for example you write and write and write, will the content or quality be good, or better still what will you be publishing? Making money online is about reputation and presence. At this point I might have a lot of followers, but if my quality goes down then I will not and when I hit the publish button, I know at least a few of them will visit.

I take the time to read and to think about what I am writing. I let a hub be for many days before I even publish it, it's not about the money, but about the quality, and the money will come. I repeat if it's good, and the content is good the money will come.

And My Point?

If I were to write say 5000 hubs how long will it take to get them to a good score and to write them properly? First do you understand how long it would take me to write that kind of a hub?

Writing Online isn't about how many hubs or lens or whatever you can do in a day, it's about great content that people need. Writers need to remember this, and help one another out. If this means you write 50 hubs at some point you will make some money. If your goal is say $100 per day in income, then you'd better plan your business correctly.

So let's continue, if you go to hub stats you'll see how much you can POTENTIALLY make on a hub the more $ signs you have the better the chance to make more money. So one of the first things you might wan to do is to go through each of you hubs first, before you make more hubs, and wonder why the money isn't rolling in.  there is another part to this logic.

Remember this is all theory of course because if you have poor tags, and poor traffic it won't matter at all if you think your hub is good. Sorry you might think it, but traffic will prove it. If you get say five people looking at it each day, well that's okay but....

Logically this won't get much money. See, this means you have 50 hubs and say five visitors each day on each hub(of course this is theory) then you would only have 250 visits a day. not bad, not bad, but still.  Many people who write on hubpages have closer to 10,000 visits a day.  they make money.  They also don't have 5,000 hubs.

I've read somewhere that about 20% of visitor will click on an ad, or go to amazon or whatever. So what does this mean?

Logically let's go back to the 250 people who went to see your 50 hubs, now if 20% click on an ad, then you can have about 4-6 clicks. this is where the stats come in, the lower the number of $ ( see the hub stats and the symbols on your hub for this the range is 1-5 $) then the less money you'll make, so in this case you'll want google AdSense to really really like you so work on the traffic and your seo, you are getting and the words you are using as your keywords. if course the 20% isn't across the board there are many factors to this.

But Wait! You're yelling what about 5000 hubs?

Can you do 5000 hubs and make them readable by writing say 15 hubs a day for the next two or three years? Logically you can't, but we'll work with that for now... So, with 5000 hubs and you make say about $1 a day on 50 hubs, maybe you'll make $100 on 5000 right?

Not Necessarily... After a while you'll be writing for speed and not quality and the content will not be as good, and frankly, if it was me writing it, I wouldn't have the time to edit it these hubs if I need to do say 5 or 6 a day.   The traffic would come for a while, but certainly not for long.

I've heard it said that 100 hubs of good content rich, quality hubs is critical mass, and if these hubs all follow the same method, edited, well written, helpful and the writer has a following, then google will rank it higher on its search engine so you'll have good seo, (in theory) and if this person had a fan base, you might even get a $100 a day with just 100 hubs.

But, if your don't write great content rich hubs, then your chances of making $100 a day is slim. Yes you can read all about it, but the fact of the matter is you will make some mistakes and some of my hubs don't get to much traffic, it's steady but not a lot. So if this is the case, people need to be aware of what they are writing and why they are writing.

Logically you'll lose in the end, or maybe logically you'll win, it all depends. Of course given I'm only human and not a Vulcan....

Logic is funny that way isn't it?

I have a hard time believing that everyone on Hubpages wants to just sit here and write when THERE IS an oppportunity to make some money from something you love to do. So I don't buy anyone that states they aren't here to make money, ESPECIALLY the ones that state they aren't here for that purpose and read an article titled "Of Money, Logic, and Spock." It just tickles me! Anyhoo, loved the article and I would LOVE to make some money while writing about things I like to write about. I'm still learning, but my Adsense showed that I made $1.76 yesterday! WOO HOO!

ha ha cally2 that sound like me in a way, If the writing is good I'll read it, but if it's not, well I'll try somewhere else.

Quality is King and Queen and Everything in Between.

I have to believe that the quality will out in the end. Of course that may be because I don't have many hubs :) I'm not sure if I have diversified my portfolio or am just looking for my niche. Actually I have to admit I'm not that organised about my writing. I write what I want when I want. I pay attention to key words but ignore them if they get the way of a good story. Just like grammar and spelling really. Loved the hub.

I could not agree more. Making money as a writer is both a qualitative and quantitative game. If quantity content is queen, quality content is king. Diversifying one's writing portfolio is also helpful.

I am in agreement that quality is better than quantity. Of course, some of us look at our hubs and say, "Why did I write that one?" It's a learning experience and we will keep pressing on, logically of course!

logic is good and so is this hub...I happen to agree that quality is better than quantity...happy hubbing...thanks

Great advice very Logical....lol I just finished watching the Star Trek movie it came out on DVD today. My better written hubs get more traffic. I learn something new every day. None of my hubs have made any money here anyway. But that is not why I am here. I am learning to be a better writer.

This is a very frank and cool analysis of writing for quality not necessarily for $$$.
