Passions and Powers In Creative Writing and Why We Publish Our Writing
61This is another part to passion and power in writing. This deals with why we reader will read anything published: really because we are readers but also because we want the passion and power that a great author gives us. we want to expand on our creative ability.
When publishing here on hubpages there is something that seems to help the rise of a writer their passion for writing and the power of their writing. Sometimes the stars align for a writer and they are left wondering what made them so successful.
Other times, the writer will write and nothing seems to happen, they publish hub after hub and while they receive good comments about their writing, still nothing seems to happen. The fix hubs and rewrite older hubs. They publish new ones. no traffic nothing, Worst still spikes in traffic and still nothing. This isn't about money, it's about pride in work as a online published author.
I believe it is because the hub does not lack effort, but perhaps a passion or power in it. lighting in a bottle, as the saying goes. Something that makes it click, or resonate with the reader.
Passionate Writing
Why Passions and Powers:This is the question I am certain you will be asking soon, but in this case, there are many reasons why people will read anything you write, a book a novel, a short story, or hubs and blogs. It is about creative writing-- not always a fiction based thing. Publishing a book is one thing, but having passion when the success doesn't come is another. Passion means you are exited about something you published, power often can mean doing the dirty work later.
Each one requires a different mindset. No one writers 150,000 word hubs and expects the reader to sit down and read this wonderfully published hub. What is more likely is say ten or twelve focused well written published hubs that gets people talking. Publishing your work is an art unto itself, and this requires both passion and power for your writing.
This is a sort of power and passion, as the writer is passionate about their work and is willing to take the time to write several engaging hubs. The reader becomes passionate about the writing and the author. The relationship develops.
It's a passion of the writer to publish and fix up a hub, and it is the passion of the reader to keep coming back and comment and send these things to social networks. It's a powerful relationship and one that can be improved and empowered. of course then again, as with all writing, you need to have teh power to say that you will need to change and edit these hubs when they are not working as well as they could be.
Hence Passions and Powers: It takes two.
Why Writing is Powerful: There is something about writing that each person feels when they write. This feeling is unique for each writer, but it can be summed up this way: when a writer writes some they love, something that they connect with, the writing becomes more powerful, the words flow.
It is the soul of the writer put to pen, the creative mind adding to the dimention of writing. It is. simply put the power of the mind on paper. Some writing, by author long dead is powerful, people relate to it, because something within the pages "speaks" to them. the voice of the author assumes a smaller role, and the characters are so unique so different, and yet so familiar the reader can relate to the writing.
These are the books that will be published time and again, and the voice of the characters resonate to the world.
The important thing about power is that not everything written will have this power. Some need care, and effort some need improvementbefore publishing. Some don't have the writers backing-- they will simply be what they are, Other pieces will become lighting in a bottle, something the writer is proud to publish.
To improve you writing, and make it more powerful is a choice, no one can make it sing except the author. Each writer is unique and so is their voice, but one thing that seems to be common for powerful writing is the style, the way a reader can be pulled to want more. That is power.
Why Writing is Passionate: Sometimes the power is the one thing that makes the writer write well and at others it is the passion. Passion in writing is the soul of the published book. One can not have a good book published without passion.
It seems that some readers find a book, and they say that the book had "soul." In this case what they mean is that the book is passionate, filled with emotion that they can relate to and that they identify with. Passion is needed.
Passion in writing helps move the book along, sometimes a reader can tell when parts of a book become boring, as if the passion is lost. The author seems to have gone on a detour and the reader is left a bit confused.
As writers we need to strive for passion in our own writing. We need to find the soul of the book. we want to publish our finest and if the passion isn't there all readers are smart enough to know and to understand that this is something that is missing. They might not define it as a lack of passion but this is the reason books lose their appeal.

Why a Mix Of Passion and Power is the Best: As writers we strive to write with either passion or power. we can see it in the comment, This was powerful, a passionate piece. I don't think I've read too many comments on either hubs or blogs that say "passionate and powerful."
I've asked myself what would happen if you add passion and power to anything that you intend to write, and then pour your heart and soul into creating meaning for the reader? Even on hubs? Even on a blog?
I don't think it can be done all the time, but I believe one thing. They both need to be present in a published book. If they aren't the book might not soar. People want something that is both entertaining but makes them think. That is powerful. People also want something that they can believe in but also gives them a chance to relate to the characters in a personal way. That is passion.
Adding emotions to the writing is a great beginning, but also adding some powerful force behind each major character will do much to enhance a books publishing chances. I would almost say there are reasons for classic novel and I think that they combine both the power and the passion into the book.
It is almost magical when writing a book. It is magical when you get your own book, your own published book in your hands knowing you put both passion and power into it. Some characters will live on forever, but the goal is to get published. What is needed is passion and power. Even in a hub there should be a bit of it, especially if you are building a reputation.
Yes, people will make comments that you might not like, but never take them personally, just take each day and write the best you can.

8. but yet you have the heart of an artist
7. your writing is hubtastic
6. and hubdelicious
5. and of course hubba hubba
4. and what's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?
3. You have many many followers
2. I am from Mars (Canada is just my summer home) and I feel that you represent the epitome in good hubbing
1. As I am from Mars I would say - take me to your leader - but now I see - you are the leader!!!
Sorry Rebecca, this one slipped by me. I'm not really surprised, you write so many.
I have to admit, this one leaves me rethinking some of what I have done to date, and I will be rethinking what comes next.
Great hub, very thought provoking
Hi Rebecca, I just read the first part of this hub and I wouldn't have read this part if there was no passion and power in your writing. You definitely practice what you preach. Thank you!
I agree, and nice hub, you're a great writer! Every time I see one of your hubs, your writing amazes me. Keep it up!
Hmm, passion and power. I think my early writing probably lacked both. I hope my recent writing has one or the other, sometimes both! Still working on it, of course. Nice hub, Rebecca, as always.
I have the passion in writing but in other side we enter the industry and the place where the money have big influence. So as a publisher we have to think about that side become survival.
I'm not sure if there is either in my hubs, but I am passionate about what I write about! I'll let my readers decide :) Thanks as always, Rebecca!
Rebecca, this is why I'm selective as to what I write about. I cannot get too passionate about certain things, but as you said, when that lightning is slamming in the bottle, you know it. I've got three books. Although the publisher really likes one of them, the one he doesn't know about is the one that'll keep the reader glued from beginning to end. I poured everything I had into it. While it still needs editorializing, I am seriously more focused on it than the others. Thank you.
Rebecca, I think you are right, I never thought about power either. And that is because I think passion comes first to a writer then comes power, if it comes at all. But I believe all writers have some power only they don't know how to use it. You have that power for sure. Thanks for another hub that will keep me going on HubP.
Thank you Rebecca E, for another wonderful and educational hub. Thanks for great info. God bless. creativeone59
Very thoughtful .. I agree with you.. Definitely need passion to resonate with the readers...Good one. Cheers !
As always a very interesting read, and as said before this adds to your last hub on the subject. Another one coming soon?
...Dearest Becca...
I must admit, you left me thinking! It is a very nice complement to the first hub which I read prior to this one. Just as you mentioned in the first hub about Passion and Power, I would insist on that here too: What makes power to surface is the passion you put into your writing, and then it is fed back into your passion and there is a build up! So, in my humble opinion I think that the quality of your passion when writing will influence in a lesser or greater way depending on passion itself. Nonetheless, let us remember that passion in writing is motivated by a great desire of communicating and communicating it right!
Thumbs up!
warmest greetings and tons of blessing to you, dear friend,
Al
I must say that all of your commenters before me are some of my faves and they do not lack passion that is for sure. I truly must say to you Rebecca not one of your hubs do I not read word for word. Some people's hubs I skip, some I skim some just a glance. Thanks for reminding me to be passionate and powerful.
Rebecca-thanks so much for this passionate and powerful piece! I noticed when I voted in your poll that virtually all of us feel we lack power. I include myself as well.
Again, thanks.
Well written and informative......... thank you.
I believe that all writers have "passion" for the craft, if we didn't we simply wouldn't do it............ but you're right that the power of our writing makes a huge difference attracting readers and even keeping them.
Thank again!
Kaie
I agree with you, Rebecca, passion and power are the elements of good, no, excellent writing but I would add one more "P" - Purpose. What is your purpose? Why are your writing? Who are you trying to reach?
And you are so right about the magical feeling one gets from holding your own published book in your hands. Nothing like it. Except perhaps the birth of a new child.
Rebecca, This article gives me something to think about. I write with passion oftentimes but does it really come through to the reader? I'm not sure. I have learned so much from reading your articles. Thank you.
Passion or Power? A question I am going to struggle with. A bit of anger too sometimes in my blog. Maybe all three in some hubs. Thanks Rebecca.
Very interesting point and view. I certainly learned something there. Thank you, Rebecca.
I think another key to powerful writing is voicing your opinions. When I'm reading an article, I always like to have some idea as to what the writer thinks, not just what they know. And once you write with passion, sharing your opinion comes naturally. So I suppose power and passion go hand in hand. Also I think you've done a great job at exemplifying this point with this article itself!
Excellent...even though I haven't read the first hub I see that I am lacking in both areas and need to do some revising and soul searching to get that passion and power utilized in my writings! And, now, Rebecca, I am going to read part 1!
