Help Me! The Art of the Ezine Article: A Good Business For Increasing Traffic
69Publishing on E-zine and Article Directories
I am a writer on e-zinearticles, and also i write small articles on other article writing sites such as article alley. In fact I have written over 100 e-zine articles ranging from writing to publishing to traffic building to site promotion. I am a real person. I am also a Squidoo lensmaster and a hub author. I also run a blog, but for this question yes I do write e-zine articles.
There the short answer to this question of are e-zine author real, there is one other hub writer whom I know of (Lizzie) who writes for e-zine articles. The business is real and it does take time to do what you believe you need it to do. This is where you create content for link value. However, note that this is a time consuming method, and, if you want to make money fast, or quickly this is not the route which you want to take. Google AdSense is not allowed-- e-zine uses it but they use their affiliate number.
Basic idea for e-zine articles: You write an article about 400 words long, and then in about a week it will be published with links to your website or blog or hubs or whatever.
Making Money With E-zine
That's great but can you make money on e-zines-- or directly on the articles which you have written?: in a word no, that is not the point of writing e-zines any more than writing comments for an e-zine article. The idea behind e-zine articles is that you write something that people can copy to a blog, as long as they credit you and add your links to the post.
Again in this case the link is the thing which done correctly makes you money. For example my articles are based upon my points of view on publishing and writing and building traffic. Often I base them on my hubs or my blog posts. Then (and this is important!) I add my links to my author resource box (with e-zine they tell you who copied and pasted your work so you can go and look) to some site which makes money for me.
So really it is about links, and money comes from careful selection of your links. Your e-zine article will not make you money directly even though there are ads by Google. The reason for this is promotion and e-zine articles also needs to make money for their site. Still it has potential monetary value if people click on your links to the sites that have yoru Google AdSense code on them, this is the way to make money through e-zine articles.
So why should I care? I don't even think that people bother to cmment: On e-zine articles and other article directories that is not the point. In fact most people will say that to write 400 words is great pratice and really, it is a simple and eeftive way to promote hubs and whatever else you want to promote.
Often people will not comment, and the idea is that you are giving your content away, But with a "snag" the people need to put your bio up, (some don't but that is why I suggest the next part) but not really your links.
So, what people do is they pick say a hub that they have and write something out, but leave say a title in their bio and the link beside it. This way when reading your biography people will (hopefully) type in your name and other info into Google.
Again this site is not for the faint of heart, as you do need to get editorial approval, and yes they are strict, but long-term this is a good thing. This is a way to drive traffic to hubs, and blogs, and if the content is slightly different from yoru hub ( for example) more people will go through more of your work.
So... if my content is spend around won't that be duplicate content on hubs? No, as long as the content is not cut and paste... otherwise you really should not be writing on e-zine aritlces.
Still there is value to writing there, for one thing it does give you a link to your work, and for another, it is an anvenue where done correctly, can build up traffic to specific hubs and blogs of yours. Increasing traffic is the main goal of most of these online article writing sites, and they do say that your content will be spread around.
No, Google AdSense does not play a role for you at e-zine articles but the ads are up, so do nto complain that youare nto making money through it, or that you are not getting comments because that is not the point, traffic is.
I use E-zine Articles and Other Article Directories
See results without votingSo, comments and traffic or what? The last word: If you are writing e-zines to promote your work be prepared to think promotion and long term, you can check stats and be aware the more articles you have the more likely you will succeed.
Again, this is a long process since if you are not a platinum level author it takes longer to have your work edited, and looked over. The more important aspect is do not ever cut and paste your hubs or anything else, simply write something that is similar to your hubs or website to build interest and get traffic.
This will in the long run get a new traffic source to you work, and if you have maximized your Google AdSense, your traffic will make you some money.
To your success.

Rebecca, thanks for this. I am definitely bookmarking this one, as I do so many of yours. I want to write for Ezines, because I really need to improve my traffic. This was a great guideline. Thanks again!
does ezine help traffic by targeting a particular audience or does encourage growth of organic links?
Thank you for this interesting article. I had heard the name Ezine but had no idea what it is about. I may try it. :)
Hi rebecca, you've mentioned that e-zine articles are basically published to be copied into blogs. So my doubt is: what is the condition of such blogs? Wont they be detected for duplicate content?Wont their adsense account be banned??
As always, Rebecca, a very useful and informative Hub. Thanks for sharing your insights and experience for us to learn from.
Love and peace
Tony
You have shared a very good post. Very helpful and informative.
I too have some tricks for article marketing and shared it on my hub:

Hope you will visit my hub.
Thank you.
I use ezine, isnare, hubs, squidoo, knol, quizilla, and about 100 other thinks and get anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 backlinks a month... article marketing is easy... getting high quality links is a little more tricky.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for all the useful info. Would just like to add that I have written some articles on ezine linking back to my hubs. Following advice in hubs from Misha and, (I think) Ryankett, I am also backlinking those backlinks to reinforce them!
Love the ezines! I have written on a number of these for about a year now and I find that they do exactly as you say here. Great Hub - Thanks!
i guess in developing countries like mine i wont be able to reach out to a large audience. But, shall try ezine after a few months. do ezine accept electronic topics write ups too.? You say that they have a strict publishing procedure.
Great article! I really appreciate the insightful information regarding Ezine!
The problem with Ezines is time and hard to get approval. When you know the rules, you can do it quick and with this article marketing method you can promote your hubs easily. Beside this, we may use others method to promotion as do follow blog comments, or social bookmarking.
Rebecca - I write for ezines for the links. It not only draws traffic (some) but there is a plus for which I do not have the correct technical term. What I mean is, a link from ezines will give you more what I call Google-cred. An article linked from ezines makes your hub look better to the Google search engine. And it's not hard to make it to platinum level, you can do it rather quickly. I am Inez Calender over there.
I always learn something from your hubs Rebecca! You are a great teacher about all things related to writing and earning from them.
Thanks very much for sharing your expertise!
Rated up and useful!
I often am impressed with the good ideas and thoughts on ezine aritcles. Thank you for explaining how it works. =:)
I am still yet to find what works best, Hubpages or Ezines...
I have used Ezine for a while, but Hubpages does have that community factor to it.
I've written some e-zine articles as a freelancer for other people. I tried squidoo, but I just don't understand it.
Where is the time?
For me it's always a time thing, where to find the time to do all these wonderful things!
EZ articles do have strict rules dont they? I think I have done EZ articles with out even knowing it in my ghostwriting work.
Rebecca while I may try again in the future to get some articles on E-zines they frustrated me by disallowing my first 3 attempts at getting accepted due to what I deem a judgement call. They say I was breaking the rules of what was allowed I say you could look at it from a different viewpoint and it would seem legal by their terms. Oh well!
While they do get perhaps the greatest exposure there are just too many other high PR article sites out there that accept articles quicker or even instantly, Go Articles is one.You have presented us with the proper info on this topic and have me reconsidering another attempt with a less controversial topic that may have an easier time getting accepted. Thanks Rebecca!
So glad you endorse this site as i have just joined but having only just started getting the swing of hubpages i was hesitating. Might really look into it :)
thanks again for a great hub!
Good work
Rebecca, I like your common sense approach to writing and profit. The theme seems to be write good stuff no matter where you go and people will give you the "backlinks" you need to gain traffic. Do it the other way around (quality marketing, poor writing) and you will not do very well.
Thanks for this Rebecca. I started off at Ezine before i discovered HP, but wrote only about six articles or so. This great hub has now encouraged me enough to revisit and write more over there.
From your hub, i now realise how writing for Ezine will be beneficial to me.
Thanks for sharing and GodBless.
Thank you Rebecca,For another fantastic hub, I always appreciate your writings. Thank you for sharing. Godspeed. creativeone59
Good hub, Rebecca E. I've published a number of articles on ezinearticles. I've gotten close to 5500 hits there, which is OK, but I quit publishing there after they declined to publish a piece they (wrongly) considered libelous. It related to a public figure (public figures are not easy to libel.) I am not very interested in making money from my scribbles, but I would like them to be read by as many people as possible. The suggestions you make regarding the linking from ezinearticles in the author's box, I think, is the right way to go. Most hubbers would benefit from following your advice.
Thanks Rebecca....nice promotion. I have few on Ezine articles and always plan to do more. My blog and researching for it seems to take a whole chunk of my time right now. I need more time discipline.
I also write articles for Ezines but since I discovered Hubpages, confine my writing to HP only since I enjoy the interaction with readers on HP that is missing on other ezines. It is a very big plus!
I've written a few articles for Virtual Assistant ezines, but I have not done this type of work consistently for some time. I wrote a lot in the early days of newsletters that came in your email box--which seems a lifetime ago.
I suppose I should try to work my way back into this type of writing. Thanks again for some very good ideas.
Mike
Hi rebecca
Great content, specially reminding the ones that are relatively new to Ezines (me) not to copy and paste our previous hubs.I have signed up for the 100 Ezines challenge...is a kick on the ass to keep on writting. Thanks for sharing and take care
Gabriel
I have one Ezine article up and two more under review. I certainly hope to boost traffic once I reach enough articles to be noticed. Since it doesn't pay anything directly, I have been going back and forth about the wisdom of it. Thanks for your endorsement.
I have people read my EZA articles more than any other article directory. Its great for ranking without a lot of extra work.
Thank you, Rebecca, for your always informative advice. I often wondered about ezine but never got round to it.
Thank you, Rebecca, for your always informative advice. I often wondered about ezine but never got round to it.
Great report on ezine articles, have 40 articles there but don't understand how you find out who is using your articles on their blog or site. Since the only revenue source is channeling readers to your URL where they hopefully click or buy, it should not be your only promotional tool
Good to know information. I will try E-zine to brush up on my writing skills.
Thanks,
Shane
I was not familiar with ezine articles and found your hub to be very helpful and informative. I will definitely be trying out that avenue! Thank you!
I've never considered such a career move, Rebecca, but I think I will look into it. As you point out, the practice would be extremely beneficial.
Do you recommend a specific site?
Thanks, I'll be back!
About 10% of my hub views are referrals from EzineArticles. I create my hubs with a lot of information and related pictures and videos. I then extract 500-750 words quality article with a link to the related hub and submit it to EzineArticles. It is still a quick way that takes less than an hour per hub. How it works?
Google loves EzineArticles because it is the only Articles Directory that is reviewing the submitted articles manually to ensure quality, which is why it takes up to a week to get published. So, your quality article would appear on the first few pages on Google Search (even before your related hub) and people will check it out. If they like it, they will seek more information by clicking the link on the Author Resource Box which leads to your related hub. So, as Rebecca said, it is an indirect way to make money.
Unfortunately, EzineArticles do not share Adsense revenue with publishers like HubPages.
I have written a couple of articles on Ezine but I didn't think there was any money to be made, so I stopped. Thanks for your article.
Arr, thank ya for sharing more treasures and good advice. It is much appreciated!
Never heard this definition about ezine articles...a good heads up! It seems it is difficult to get in the right writing wave, to make money? Informative hub!
Always love your helpful and informative articles. I honestly had never heard of e-zinearticles until I read this. It sounds great for building traffic but I just don't have this kind of time or patience. Great hub.
I wrote over 100 articles for ezine before I discovered Hubpages. I got pretty good traffic from it, but due to time constraints and google adsense kickbacks I now focus on hubpages. Most of my ezinearticles were about friendship and chrisitan leadership. I also tried to promote affiliate marketing as a member of wealthy affiliates, but those articles generated the least amount of traffic. One of my ezinearticles on friendship resides in the first spot on Google, Yahoo!, and Bing on a very common two word keyword phrase from the subject.

prarieprincess--- I try my best =) yes this is a good way to improve traffic and something that is not all that hard to do.
