Hubs 101:Tracking and Traffic and Hubs

Tracking Your traffic

The question that was asked was: What is a "hub Tracker and how do I do it or use it?" It's basically two things one is to track the activity on a hub that you've published and want to see what searchers are doing with your work. The hubpages tracker allows you to create some referrals for people who sign up for hubpages based upon your hubs.

That is what the tracker does, but this is business, and you need to understand a thing or two about your traffic. it allows you to make some passive income on other's work. What it does is that it makes you the person who referred another to hubpages, from that wonderful fine hub that you published (read join hubpages now click here, and you'll get the idea of referrals)

So the second part is the least complex of the two so I'll explain it first in a very simple way. Beside the rate it up or down button is a share it link, click on this link. From there, on your left, is something called "link this hub" click on that button. This will track a specific hub and your traffic on it. If a person signs up on hubpages this will be recorded for you.

From there, when you are signed in you will find under my account a "URL tracker" this link will get you to your alpha numeric number. This little number does something for you if you use the link all correspondence and to promote your particular hub in as many ways you can. The goal is to have people come to your hub and sign up to hub pages from there.

That's the simple answer.

Publish your hubs and then add the hub tracker for a limited time to get a passive income benefit.

Over time this will happen

Traffic, and Hubs and Hubpages?

So to the second part of the question How do I use it? Better still why should I use this program?

Well it is partly to increase traffic to specific hubs and to find an audience where you know they can be found. Putting a hub at the bottom of your email will make people want to click on your link to your hub, which in turn will increase traffic to your hub, which in turn might give you some clicks, and some added revenue. In other words the idea is to go and get people to your hubs and then sign up on hubpages-- all using a specific tracker.

But how will this make you money?

It's akin to writing a book and trying to do some online publicity, and in this case this is exactly what you are doing. Be warned though of a few things: One content is king. If I've said it once, well you know the cliche. So I won't beat you up with it. If you publish hubs which are well written and have quality content, and you have done some keyword research and added links to quality content traffic will come and they will sign up to hubpages.

What happens is that you get a bit of a benefit-- some passive income from these people's hubs. Not so fast, it is passive and you can not make people write hubs, you can simply ask them to join hubpages using your referral link.

Two, know thine audience. You want people to come and read it for getting traffic, and money ( as the case may be) you need to do some work. Yes, I know all about the "power of positive thinking" but I'm big on the power of action. Part of it is to put your hub you want to promote on your email signature, your online correspondence, and get people there.

It's important to understand that this tracker will work for a limited time in terms of added benefits.

Do You Use URL Trackers?

  • Yes
  • No
  • I'm not sure if I should
  • I don't really want to promote a hub

Traffic, Increasing Traffic and Your hubs

I believe the bigger question is why? Why have a URL tracker if you don't think people will sign up or it will eventually make money, or better still increase your earnings.

Before you get too excited this is a long term plan, you will have to publish hubs, what some will call a fine hub, or a quality hub, and then the person who signs up under your tracking needs to write, and publish quality hubs as well.

Why do you want to promote a hub, well there are many reasons, to showcase your writing to the world, to make some money via amazon or Google AdSense, or eBay, to get more traffic to a particular hub, which needs it now. To learn a bit of basic marketing.

So why do you want to put a tracker on your hub? It allows you to find out what makes people come to a specific hub, how many and what is the net result of this, which is generally someone signing up to hubpages. the URL tracker keeps information on the people who signed up on hubpages after reading your hub, but not only that it used to be that you would get a portion of their impressions from Google AdSense-- hubpages way of thanking you, but this might not be as viable an option since many use the Hubpages Ad Programs which limits how many Google AdSense ads are shown.

Hubpages as some FAQs which explain it better than I can but there is a benefit to trackers beyond money or traffic or about anything else. If you do get sign-ups then there is a bonus for you.

The answer is straight forward, and yet a bit complex at the same time.

Go to URL trackers, or add a link on your hubs and this will help. Getting traffic to begin with is all a part of your work. Yes, it does take time, but by writing a hub it makes it a bit easier. this also requires a lot of planning and you will need to think in many ways about who and when your traffic does what it does.

Your traffic are also your readers, but at the same time, if you have an increase in traffic from search engine sources, you need to pay attention to your keywords and your search ability on the Internet.

Lisa-- go for it, and keep on publishing "linkable" hubs, while it makes for ease of use, it also is easier to find for most readers--- the ones who don't like to go through eight or nine links to find more information.

Putting it on the bottom of an email works, but make sure you want to promote that hub, and only pick one or two if you can!
