What is Best For You? The Choices You Make
67What is the Best Choice for You?
Most people want what is best for them in terms of making money online. They will use a lot of methods to find out the traffic that they get and who is doing what on their websites, or blogs or lenses or hubs. The point is that they are hard at work—trying to guess what will come next when a search engine changes its topic.
It boils down to three things: One the time you spend working with Keyword research, (looking at keyword density, or lack thereof of a targeted term), working with linking strategies to increase the traffic they get. Working on trying to figure out what the search engines are going to do next. Pass the antacid please.
You can make an educated guess as to why you are having difficulties with your earnings with any affiliate program and you can sit down and do the work you need to make the passive income that you want: linking, writing more hubs, writing on other online websites, more linking, more keyword research. In fact you can do a lot more.
We all want what is best but we do not often like to do what is needed.
Who is at Fault?
Some will suggest that it is all Google’s fault. Some will go as far as to say that this website or that website are the main cause of problems-- at least for their online business. This is very true when a loss of major earnings are involved.
The point is that search engines change all the time, and you will need to keep on working with the foundation that got you to this point in the first place. Of course if you are having trouble with traffic then the best thing to do is to simply stop for a bit and think of ways to improve your hubs.
This is not a simple as it seems: To improve your hubs you will have to make the conscious choice that you are going to spend about 5 hours on each hub to get it at it peak performing level. I have found that the webmaster tool and Google Analytics are a huge help. Not only that but I have learned a number of things.
What might seem to be common sense really is not what you might think. Common sense tells us we need great content on our hubs, and that we all need to work harder at linking our hubs outside of the hubpages community.
So far, this is at least what most have said. Most people, do not like to think that this will take time and energy. After all the goal is to increase traffic at a decent rate. We love that part. What we don’t love is the work. I can say for certain that I don’t like linking a much as I should.
Then there is writing content that once published is a great means to get more people to read and find use out of what you say and then this encourages you to publish more. But that is your choice, to publish more and with more imporvements.
Two Ways to Look At a Situation
So what does this all have to do with our work on the web? There are a number of theories going around about what might happen with hubpages, or what content will be standing by the end of the day. I think in many ways the longer you have been around on the Internet the more you find out that really, it’s simply two things that are going to make or break your dreams of earnings and getting paid by Google AdSense and other affiliate programs.
The two things? You and your willingness to work a bit harder for a while to see more results at the end. As some have suggested this might be a sandbox by Google. I think that it is a time to think in two ways. One the situation will get worse and two, you can fix it.
The Choices You Have For You Writing and Your Business
Why would or should one suggest that the situation can get worse? If you are about to get paid by AdSense and your traffic falls nearly 75% it can get a lot worse. Of course the idea is that you can do a few things (taking for example hubpages)
1) You can leave the online writing community and never come back. Then you look for new places to go and try to make money there.
2) You can write a lot of new hubs, in hopes that something might click and give you search engine traffic or whatever traffic you desire.
3) You can go back and begin the process of fixing up your writing. This means looking into the details.
4) You can fix up your writing, as well as creating new hubs, and also begin the journey of finding other places to put your original content. This will allow you to expand on your writing. Some places look for better writing.

Taking a Step Back and Looking At My Business.
Which one will you do? I think it is a matter of controlling your feelings and deciding what is the best option for your business. We are in many ways in it for something. This might not be the making money that one person would like but it can be making something each month.
The goal to finding out what is best for you. This is a "simple" step: that is to take a step back and really look at your work. then you will need to look at the quality of your work. In fact this is possibly the hardest part. I can personally say that what I thought was quality was not really quality but rather something I wrote.
I also had to find out what other thought about my quality. To this end, it is sort of new business models which I will need to come up with to not only survive in this environment but also to thrive in this environment. I believe that the key is thrive.
I could say I can write well, but then I am certain that most will argue that my message is not getting across to others. I could say that I am making money, but more have more earnings. The point is while I am one person, I am also building a business. This is where it is your choice to make.
To your success.

Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing this hub. I actually found it very interesting and informative. Search engines do seem to change all the time. It seems one can't go wrong in terms of trying to just write better hubs overall.
you've proven once again that choices are a big thing around here. Keep on writing, when will you publish another hub?
Very interesting hub. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work!
Rebecca, you inspire many people, that is a fact. If you cannot figure out how to succeed, others won't stand a chance. However, I do hope and believe you will keep some of your insights for yourself, so that you may reap the rewards and continue to prosper.
Rebecca, nice hub. You ask some good questions, the same kind of questions I ask of myself. One thing for sure: it is s constant learning curve. You have to constantly examine things to try to do better.
It's nice to "see" you again, and congratulations on your book! Take care!
Two roads diverged into a wood
I could not choose
So I eventually died of starvation
Hi Rebecca, my apologies to Robert Frost but isn't that the way it goes sometimes--If we don't make choices, we can't possible improve and indecision can be costly.
Good reminder. =:)
This is great tips you can apply when it comes to an online site. Rebecca, you have made some great points my dear. Very useful and informative hub.
This was really good information. I have only been around here two months but am familiar with many things related to making a good website since I have been in web design for quite some time. I always find it interesting when I read that it should only take an hour to write a hub. I simply find that hard to believe. From beginning to end it has to take more time to produce a quality hub that will stand the test of time. I for one am treating this like a business as you suggest, and trying to produce my best work even if it takes longer. I want a quality product so people come back again and again. This was a very good hub.
I got great inspiration from this hub really. Thanks a lot for your valuable words.
Very interesting -- one of those topics I like to pretend doesn't exist just because I don't feel like dealing with it. Helpful reminder to pay attention, great hints to move forward -- voting up, thanks!
Terrific hub. All very true words. I have been busily making changes in my hubs.
Adsense is still the best and HubPages ads program also give us another option in get income by writing. Actually there are many opportunities out there, just take action and do the best. Rebecca, thanks for always inspire us with your talent related about making money and online business. Vote up!

Thanks for the great post...nice
Great article, it really points out the reality of earning online no matter how you do it. It takes time and quite often doing things we don't consider "fun". Earning anywhere on the net is way more social than I ever anticipated.
If you want readers, customers, or people to follow what you are doing you have to find them. To do this you have to be social.
SEO is great however you have to base it on terms which are being searched for. Even in the overrun niche I work in my blogs are being found more than my hubs. This is because I advertise them where I can't my hubs.
I was able to do this before the sub domain change. The old links no longer work and I refuse to rewrite or re post every hub. This means the hubs will get whatever traffic they do from hub page writers and the little traffic they get from search engines. I am just glad I am not dependent on them for my livelyhood.
Up and beautiful, and truthful. That is what is so hard to take, the truth. You hit the nail on the head when you said, "We all want what is best but we do not often like to do what is needed." ding, ding, ding-- We become satisfied with our 'offerings', thinking this is the best we can do. No, it's not. We should all 'strive to do better', and we should encourage each other along the way, that way we all succeed and get better...
Wonderful job you did writing this Hub Rebecca. I tell people similar things and I notice there are some who think it should all happen by magic. They don't accept the fact that they need to work at it.
Anyone who writes with quality may still be wasting their time if they don't get involved with the other things that you mentioned.
Yes quality is the most important thing. But other things can creep in to hurt. Imagine, for example, not moderating comments and a spammer leaves malicious links in your hub. That can kill one's ranking.
A writer is never done. I have found that I could improve traffic of old hubs that were doing poorly just by researching Google Analytics and revisiting the keyword tool to make adjustments.
The things you talked about here are vitally important for any writer to understand. I voted up and useful. I even threw in "awesome!"
Great hub! Since I hit about my 70th hub, I've been taking time to go back and revise old hubs. I've definitely seen a significant jump in traffic since I started doing this. I'm continuing to write new hubs throughout the process, too.
Interestomg examination, Becca, of a topic we face continuously. Reminds me of the quote: Good choices and decisions come from experience. And experence comes from bad choices.
Ain't that the truth?
Really good stuff here!
I love writing but unfortunately that will not pay my bills alone. The choices you make will determine if or how much money you will make on your writing. The question is, what is the best choices? I wish I knew, so I could start to make some decent money on my very hard work. But I'm a person who Never gives up and I'm sure one day my passion for writing will somehow give me something in return except for all the fun and enjoyable hours of writing!
Rebecca, well written hub as always!
Thanks!
Sannel
Life is a process. Writing for profit as you know is a business model. It is different for each of us. Each of us will get out of "it" what we put into it...
An oxymoron perhaps sums up best, "change" is constant...
Any business requires an awareness of the "business climate." When one reflects the market, rather than create the market, one has a better opportunity to create financial rewards. There are no "short-cuts." Life is whatever you want it to be. There is the challenge to do what you enjoy and to get paid to do it. The creativity process is fraught with the challenge to do what you enjoy and be true to one's self, or sell-out to the market and enjoy the financial rewards.
Perhaps a key ingredient is to somehow combine the two disparant, possible "bi-polar" needs...
Life is many shades of grey!
Write on!
Useful Hub. I also voted in your poll...thanks for the information. Rated UP.
Another great hub by a great writer.
