Google AdSense Affiliate Program: Why Is AdSense So Complicated?

Can I Make Money With AdSense?

The question that most people who have never been exposed to AdSense or hubpages really boils down to this one: how do I make money with such a complex thing like Google AdSense espeically with my fine hub?

I say complex because even though it's not many people who write hubs find it to be complex, or at least from their questions and comments they do. I'll try to clear some things up with AdSense, and money, and this will go from basic to complex, so be warned. There is no code, but if you have followed me for some time, I hope this will clear things up even more.

There is three things that are not guaranteed to work no matter what you do, but they can be helped: Comments, Traffic and Money. Why these three? They come under many names and many phrases, but they all boil down to these things.

This ia bsuiness and impressions are everything, and that is why I suggest these three things.

The Idea is that you write good content with good keywords, and promote a hub.
The Idea is that you write good content with good keywords, and promote a hub.

Why Is AdSense so Complex?

So, to answer this main question that everyone seems to ask: Why is AdSense so complex-- in terms of making money online with this affiliate program?

Well, really it's not AdSense is Google advertisements on each of the hubs we all see, the idea is that people will read your hub and hopefully, click on a advertisement. there is one thing that you must never ever ever ever ever do: click on your own ad on your own hub. Ever, so get that out of your mind. Don't believe me read the three page contract that Google gives to you when you sign up for google AdSense. It will get you banned from AdSense, now that you've been warned...

Traffic is really the big issue, no matter how good you think your hub is, and we all do, trust me on this, if you don't publicize your hub, and do a bit of marketing and work with others your hub won't get traffic. If you look on my profile on my activity you'll see I do answer comments as best I can. Traffic gets you clicks which in turn gets you some form of money, at a range of 0.01 to (From numbers I read) higher than $20.00 a click. BUT you need traffic.

I've read some books (Okay A lot!) about Google, mostly to get and idea of what you need to learn about Google AdSense, and the one I'll recommend right now, is Google AdSense for Dummies, if you don't have it, get it, and get it now. It explains the basics. Go on, go, if you can't buy it go to the library but get it. Read it, it worth the price alone, I've learned so much from it.

It made AdSense so much easier, and it helped me a lot.

The second thing you need to look at is this: keywords, on hubpages they call them tags, which is the same thing, now look on your right on this hub, you'll see the word "tags" and white boxes with words on them.

Don't fall asleep this is important!

This tags are a way that hubpages and the community finds your hub, so think about them carefully. Some writers will suggest writing two or three word tags about your hub, some will say only one, that is up to you, If it's your hub, you can always edit them later. Yes, you can edit a hub and its tags anytime.

So, what does this all have to do with AdSense? In this case if you write your tags, (what keywords are called here.) and then go to hub stats you'll see something called hub metrics, in that tab you'll find word count of the hub, and then you'll see a dollar sign, this symbol gives you a rough idea of how much you can make if people should click on an ad.

So What? You're probably thinking...

Well here's the deal with hubpages, the more dollar symbols you have the better the google ads value on your hubs are. Simple yes? Here's the important part which you can find in the FAQs, but I'll repeat it here, traffic traffic traffic and a google AdSense Account of your own ( you get payed at $100 and not before.) it is a 60/40 split between you and hubpages for the clicks, (you get 60% of the clicks and revenue, hubpages gets the rest) hence why you need traffic.  A good bit of traffic to each of teh hubs you have.

Three ways to get traffic to a hub, put it in an email signature on your emails, mention it in your blog posts, then share it, now above the comment section of a hub there is a thing called "Share It" click this button and you will find that there is a lot of choices from Facebook to Stumble Upon to Digg to Blog This to just about anything. Social Networking sites, although time consuming are a must.

Use it. Not only on your own hubs but on others hubs as well, comment on their hubs to and mention that you've stumbled upon or bookmarked or whatever. Make sure that your comment relates to the hubs you are writing comment on or they will be listed as spam.

Trust me this gets traffic, I like to see the person who made that comment hubs and return the favor. I do, and have done it. It means a lot when you tell another writer that their hub is good and that you are sharing it with friends or bookmarking it.

This also leads to more traffic which leads to more people and potentially more clicks. See, with basic activity on blogs by you and on hubpages by you, this help you. But you have to do it. never forget this. this is one of the few ways you can help you hubs and get traffic for some AdSense revenue.

I never said a lot, I said some. I'm not too big on SEO or Google rankings, that's for more computer minded people, what I am big on is doing the work required to make a hub stronger and better and get traffic, which will hopefully get you more clicks.

AdSense Complex?

  • No, I totally understand it
  • Yes, there is way to many things to read.
  • Maybe, but with some help I should
  • Maybe, but that will take time
  • No, but it took time
  • All of the Above

AdSense in and of itself isn't hard, it's like writing a hub, very simple, when you understand it. If you understand that your writing is valuable, and that this is what you want to be doing you're on the right track.

I make no excuses-- it is work, and people won't come just because of good thoughts, but with a bit of work and marketing and knowledge on your part, you can make a good run of helping others, and enjoying hubpages. Let me repeat it takes a lot of work to get traffic and to make money with Google AdSense.

Don't give up, I wrote my first hub and knew nothing, and several people helped me improve and I read a lot of hubs, and learned, and this in turned helped my AdSense. One of the best comments I got was this: wait until you've published at least 100 good quality hubs before you pass judgement on your work. If they are still lower scores... then think about what you can fix.

So my advice to you is this: Try to get as least one or two hubs that have a really good score (the score should be at least in the 80s) and have good traffic, and see what happens with them. Fix up some more and see what happens with them. Delete the ones who don't do well replacing them with something better.

By then AdSense should be easy to understand.  These things will help make money but you need to get traffic and traffic comes from different sources.

To your success.

Gloshei-- when you go to a particular hub of yours you will see "edit" "stats" and "delete" it is found under the stats button in terms of metrics. This of course should be used with Google Analytics.

Very informative Hub, it is older...It was on a side column when I was reading another of the 200 Hubs I have read in the last 72 hours...(working it). Your advice is timely and easy to understand. I spent 80+ hours pouring over google members pages in 2007 when I signed up for my blogspot blogs...It does take work and dedication...ready, willing and able.

Very informative hub, Rebecca! When I was new in Hubpages and getting my Google Adsense approved in a week...I admit that Adsense is so complicated to me and until now I have yet to learn it all.

Thanks for the book you're recommending.

Great RebbecaE This is great piece of information about Google Adsense, actually many people do get discourage in their fisrt six months when checks are now rolling and quit, once you've quit actual you have failed. Stick to it until it works or not is the best idea and more so when you stick at it the obvious is that it will work at long last. It all requires patient, consistency and hardware and not forgetting continuous learning since making money with Google Adsense is a process or journey until you reach your destination you don't quit

It's not complex more so it's all about knowing two things: keywords and searches, figure this out and you've got it made. Great hub as always.

There's something new in each one of your hubs. Well done.

What really puzzles me is the fact that my higher rated hubs don't generate as much traffic as my lower rated hubs. But you are so well informed about all of this and you have really helped clarify some things for me. Thank you! I rate you UP, grrl!
